It's nice to know that the Republican women, Hutchison, Snowe & Collins, still remembered they were women and defended us. It's ironic that we have two adulterous scummy republican cheats with Ensign and Vitter supporting the rapists and voting against the Franken Amendment. Oh and all those "Class III" republicans are up for re-election.

To prohibit the use of funds for any Federal contract with Halliburton Company, KBR, Inc., any of their subsidiaries or affiliates, or any other contracting party if such contractor or a subcontractor at any tier under such contract requires that employees or independent contractors sign mandatory arbitration clauses regarding certain claims

And here is the story behind the amendment

8. Updated the Link
In a nutshell, several women were assaulted and raped by their co-workers while working for KBR in Iraq. When the women tried to file criminal charges, KBR dug up their contracts that said these women could not press charges but had to instead go to Arbitration in order to have their claims heard. KBR then swept the mess under the rug.

I realize that Arbitration has it's place in the litigation world, but when a woman is brutally raped - that's not a place for it.

This link is the original story. And she is still an 'alleged victim of rape' because she was never allowed to have her case heard before a judge and jury. Oh and it's not a Bill, it's an Amendment to the Defense Spending Bill.

16. The part that is truly awful...
is that they would vote against anything that Dems want... even this.

Inhoff, Coburn, Sessions.... those guys would vote against a Dem bill in favor of puppies.

they're beyond safe when it comes to republicans.

But out of the Class III Republicans who voted against the amendment - there are a few weak republicans that could be picked off including:

Vitter: The state is still somewhat purple and let's face it, this guy was caught with his diaper down around his ankles.
Burr: Sen. Hagan showed us that incumbant North Carolina republicans can be picked off and she did it against someone who had strong name reconignition (Elizabeth Dole). So Burr could at risk too.
Gregg, Bond & Bunning: These 3 are not running for re-election so neither have to answer to the public why they hate women. But if there is an afterlife they can be held judgement there; although, I suspect Jim Bunning will sleep through it.
John Thune: Thune is always on thin ice in South Dakota. If Stephanie Hersteth runs against Thune he might be easy picking for the dems.

21. Not surprised they are all men
Cornyn is a despicable human being. Jamie Leigh Jones is his constituent from Texas. Not that he cares though. He's more interested in protecting KBR's profits and Jamie Leigh's right to a trial for rape.

John McCain is a really sick bastard though - because this is torture at the hands of private corporations. Where is his empathy? Where is his demand for accountability?
