I was wishing I could've fast forwarded this segment.
I bet Rachel sees his visit as one big mistake; and she won't be making that one again any time soon.
What'd she tell him? She only has an hour show?
Maybe he's un-nerved at all the liberal & independent Americans kicking up the dust that has marginalized the pundits and strategists out there. We are the ones telling them what we want, not them telling us what they think we need.

34. At first I had the same reaction, but now I'm not so sure. |
|
I think I understand what he was driving at, that we should take these opinions *as* fact (push poll or not) and work to change them.
Okay, now that you think I'm nuts, I'll try to explain further.
As he mentioned, a question like "do you think the country is headed in the right or wrong direction" can also be seen as a push against the President. Personally, I don't think we're headed in the right direction in many ways...Guantanamo is still open, health care is hanging by a thread where it should've been a slam dunk, the President hasn't addressed the gay rights issues sufficiently yet, etc, etc.
HOWEVER, I don't place all of that blame at Obama's feet for the same reason that Tripy didn't, he's cleaning up a gigantic pile of shit left behind by Bush and it is harming his ability to move forward on other stuff as quickly as I'd like (hopefully as quickly as he'd like, as well).
So, if the propagandists at FOX want to create the fiction that the President is apologizing too much, AND some regular folks are buying into it, maybe the White House needs to respond in kind. Either say "we are not apologizing for America's past actions" and lay it on the table that way, OR (my preference) be bluntly honest and say "some might say we're apologizing too much, but some of the actions America have taken have been WRONG and it's not okay to simply ignore that".
In any case, I actually did buy into some of what that guy was saying, even though it was a crappy interview and he obviously didn't state his case very coherently to say the least.

38. My letter to Jerry Brown (Joe Trippi is his unofficial advisor) |
|
Your unofficial advisor Joe Trippi tells me to believe conservative pushpolls
Dear Governor Brown,
You have lost my vote for the primary in 2010. I was learning toward you against your opponent Gavin Newsome. This evening, however, I saw Joe Trippi on Rachel Maddow's show (MSNBC, October 8). I was very surprised at his incoherent, confused (possibly drunk?) behavior. I was shocked by his implication that we should all take push polls, like the recent one done by Fox News on healthcare, as fact.
According to his website, joetrippi.com, Mr. Trippi is an unofficial advisor to your campaign. I have been a loyal California Democrat for over 20 years and felt betrayed by Mr. Trippi. As a result, I will be voting for your primary challenger in this election.
Thank you,
Nikki Stone
