I am a human being first, a progressive second and a Democrat third
Edited on Fri Oct-09-09 07:55 AM by shadowknows69
And I will NOT applaud the giving of a "peace" prize to a President who is continuing one useless war of choice and escalating another. Since progressive seems to equal pariah on this board now, I'll direct your attention to the ignore button right above the subject line. Might as well use it because I'm not shutting up voluntarily.

44. Let me get this straight...
You expected President Obama to simply pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan as fast as was possible? Have you any idea of the chaos that would have caused there? That is not working towards peace. Ending wars is not an easy task. We have several years of warfare ongoing. Simply leaving would throw the region into a much more destructive conflict than is already happening.

Instant solutions to such conflicts are simply not possible.

Even people at the White House, when told this morning, thought it was a joke.

What's the real reason for this prize? Is this the naked attempt to influence our foreign policy that it appears to be? And the money, is it intended as a bribe?

I'm not even sure if it's legal for Obama to accept it... a certain prohibition on receiving foreign titles comes to mind.

it's about the continued whining from a certain segment of this board that the entirety of DU is now in league with Fox news. You said:

"Since progressive seems to equal pariah on this board now, I'll direct your attention to the ignore button right above the subject line. Might as well use it because I'm not shutting up voluntarily."

Which is why I say this is ALL about you. You sound like one of the poor, persecuted fundies always carrying on about how they're going to fight for Jebus to the bitter end even though the media, the majority - nay, almost everyone, is against them (while ignoring the fact that 80+% of this country claims christianity as it's religion). So yes, your post was all about you and your imagined persecution.

66. Take The Blinders Off.
There's a whole huge world out there beyond your narrow little field of vision.

69. How do you think a comment like that even deserves a response?
You don't know me outside what I've written on this board. Which in my opinion my journal actually represents someone with some considerable life experience and openness of vision.

75. Knowing You Is Irrelevant. I Know The Mindset Required To Write The OP.
And that mindset is narrow as the edge of a razor blade.

76. Coming from you and your history of posting here that is completely laughable.
And I guess I'll pass on that psychological help you once offered me. Seems to me you're the kind of mindset that would take personal information and use it against someone for your own jollies.

86. Never Have And Never Would (Though It's Been Done To Me).
And this isn't about me. It's about your OP and the personal perception that would've been necessary to post it. Fact is, that perception itself is obviously stuck in a narrow tunnel that has walls to thick to see out of; as it relates to this topic. A broadening of one's perspective enabling them to see the picture as a whole would also then enable them to see exactly why the OP is severely flawed.

68. I voted for Obama, I support him in almost everything he's done
Really. And yet, even I think giving a President that's currently running two wars the Peace Prize is stupid.

78. I thought I did pretty well
in not pissing on the thread in LBN. Took tremendous restraint, it did. For those of you engaging the Ignore function for SH, you might as well save yourself some time and include me in there too. I have eyes, I have a brain, and I have the ability to think independently. My definition of peace does not include innocents continuing to die for oil.

81. "President who is continuing one useless war of choice" What utter BS
Leaving Iraq

People just find any excuse to slam President Obama, who by the way has made no decision on Aghanistan.

He earned the Nobel Peace Prize. Deal with it.
