11. Well, I think anyone would.
Take a "nomination" of him for a Noble Prize (of all things!) as a joke, that is.

2. Apparently, Mark Levin president of Landmark Legal Foundation nominated him in 2007
Edited on Fri Oct-09-09 09:18 AM by Emit
Dear Dr. Mjos:
Landmark Legal Foundation herewith submits the name of Rush Limbaugh as
an unsolicited nomination for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.
We are offering this nomination for Mr. Limbaugh's nearly two decades
of tireless efforts to promote liberty, equality and opportunity for all
mankind, regardless of race, creed, economic stratum or national origin. We
fervently believe that these are the only real cornerstones of just and
lasting peace throughout the world.
Rush Limbaugh is a nationally syndicated radio talk show host in the
United States and one of the most popular broadcasters in the world. His
daily radio show is heard on more than 600 radio stations in the United
States and around the world. For 18 years he has used his show to become
the foremost advocate for freedom and democracy in the world today.
Everyday he gives voice to the values of democratic governance, individual
opportunity and the just, equal application of the rule of law -- and it is
fitting the Nobel Committee recognize the power of these ideals to build a
truly peaceful world for future generations.
Thank you for your thoughtful and serious consideration of this
nomination. Should you require additional information, please don't
hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,

Mark R. Levin
President

5. Levin had absolutely no standing to nominate him in the first place...
and the Nobel Committee didn't even take Limbaugh under consideration.

9. Woah, holy f*ck!
Mr. Limbaugh's nearly two decades of tireless efforts to promote liberty, equality and opportunity for all mankind, regardless of race, creed, economic stratum or national origin

Holy shit, I can't believe that even the most die-hard Rush fan would believe this bullshit. They don't believe in equality.

Let me fix it:
Mr. Limbaugh's nearly two decades of tireless efforts to promote liberty, equality and opportunity for all wealthy, white, conservative, christian, heterosexual, able-bodied American men

3. I did a search for it on Yahoo and up popped his web site.
I waded through the stupid and found a mention of it.

If you go to his web site, it's listed there. I won't link to it here, because that's against the rules, but the February 1, 2007 transcript talked about the Landmark Legal Foundation nominating him. :puke:

4. You too can be nominated by your prof
"Professors of social sciences, history, philosophy, law and theology" are qualified nominators for the Peace Prize.

8. Getting nominated is not a really big deal, and the Committee doesn't release lists of nominees
Only one elected legislator or professor had to submit his name for him to be considered nominated, no further vetting required as long as the nominator is legit. Hitler, Stalin and Mussolini have all been nominated (confirmed by official Nobel records, which are only released after 50 years.)

http://nobelpeaceprize.org/en_GB/nomination_committee/who-can-nominate/

The Committee does not itself announce the names of nominees. In so far as certain names crop up in the advance speculations as to who will receive the year's Prize, this is either sheer guesswork or information put out by the person or persons behind the nomination. Information in the Nobel Committee's nominations data base is not made public until after fifty years.

10. Every kook in the world gets nominated by his cronies
but it doesn't count unless you get nominated by somebody on the prize committee.

That's a distinction that's beyond that fathead, unfortunately.

FWIW, I hope this award isn't as premature and ill considered as Kissinger's was.

I hope Obama has the wisdom to get us out of both Stupid's ruinous wars. I hope he has the courage and foresight to start whittling the military budget down to a reasonable level.
