2012: How Do You Not Re-elect A Nobel Peace Prize Recipient? |
|
Methinks this award has made it that much tougher for Obama to be unseated by the Rs in 2012.
Opinions?

3. I don't think it will have a material effect on the election process |
|
during economic hardtimes, the vote will be driven by the peoples view of their economic situation and future

6. I think it could go either way |
|
Certainly if he lives up to the award than I think he will be a very strong candidate. On the other hand if after a few years it looks like he's all flash and no substance, well, than Republicans might well be able to use it against him.

I'm sure that the Right is going to go into overdrive to discredit the prize in the next few years (as if they hadn't already).
By the time 2012 rolls around, you'll see ads that basically say, "The last three Americans to win the Nobel Peace Prize were Jimmy Carter (cue circus music), Al Gore (cue ominous music)....and Barack Hussein Obama. So Obama is just like Gore and Carter. Does he deserve another four years?"
And that'll work on many, many people. Those people can kiss my ass, but it'll still work.

Britain chucked Winston Churchill out as PM in between the end of WW2 in Europe and the end in the Pacific. If a populace decides it has other issues (in 1945, Britain wanted a Labour government for domestic policy), they'll happily disregard international events.
