Red Bluff Woman's "Debtors Revolt" Goes Viral
RED BLUFF, CA - Furious that her credit card company raised her interest rate, Ann Minch, 46, a mother of two and a mental health case manager, decided to fight back.
She recorded a video that she refers to as a debt revolt and posted it on YouTube.com. Nearly 436,000 hits later, her rant not only went viral, but got Bank of America to buckle and reduce her interest rate back to 12.99 percent, the same rate it was until August when it was raised to 30 percent.
In her YouTube video, Minch explains that she has been a Bank of America customer for 14 years and was never late in payments on her balance due.
"You are evil, thieving bastards. You have reaped ungodly profits in your behemoth casino scams, then lost, only to turn around and usurp the wealth of this great nation by the outright rape and pillage of middle class Americans whose sweat and toil built it," said Minch, who added that she could get a better rate from a loan shark.
From her Red Bluff home, Minch told News10 that she got the idea for her video after chatting with friends about the rising interest rates charged by credit card companies.
