KABUL, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Over four dozen Taliban insurgents have laid down arms and joined the government in Kunduz province north of Afghanistan, provincial governor Mohammad Omar said Saturday.

"Fifty rebels loyal to Taliban outfit handed over the arms and resumed their normal lives in Kunduz on Friday," Omar told Xinhua.

He also added that seven more militants were arrested during an operation of security forces in Ali Abad district on the same day.
