Malaysia's "Defense of Marriage Act": Intervening in divorces!
BBC: Malaysia state in honeymoon offer

A state in north-east Malaysia says it will offer free second honeymoons to couples on the brink of divorce.

Ashaari Idris, a government official in Terengganu, said troubled couples would be allowed to spend two nights at one of the state's scenic island resorts.

He said those who wished to take part would have to apply, undergo an interview and also commit to marital counselling.

He said the programme was aimed at building family ties.

So I detect a pattern right here. In the US, President Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage Act, which prevented the federal gov from recognizing same-sex marriage so that he wouldn't lose to Bob Dole. Then at the state level some lame "pro-family" organizations denied gay couples the rights to marriage because "the voters said so" (Prop. 8), and Maine and Washington (state) have bred bastard children of Prop. 8.

Then Malaysia tried and failed to ban its Muslims from attending a Black Eyed Peas concert for the simple fact that a beer company sponsored it. And now divorce intervention?
