Bush: "Some of my decisions ran counter to my philosophy"

http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D9BAJF781.htm

<snip>

Bush said that though the actions were necessary, they were hard to take.

"I fully recognize some of the decisions for the leaders were difficult," he said. "They were for me. Some of my decisions ran counter to my philosophy that said people ought to bear responsibility for the financial decisions they make."

Bush said that the actions taken were a result of lessons learned from the past, including "lessons from the Great Depression."

4. Either that or Paulson was holding a gun to his head
TARP was absolutely necessary. It should have come with strings the size of suspension bridge cables and didn't, though.

11. +1.
Bush isn't qualified to be a fry cook. Think hot grease. (Dangerous.) No one in their right mind would let him get near it. He'd burn the building down!

Now, scooping coagulated grease out of a bucket might be something he could do...not sure about that, though. If there was a Manager of the Screw Up Department, he could do that...no...he can't manage...he has to be told.

Honestly, other than getting drunk, I'm not sure he CAN do anything. (I'm pretty sure the twins aren't his, that takes a level of skill he's never shown, too.)

8. Sure he does
When you see a recession looming, cash out your stocks, and pack it all into gold and real estate. Then have people pay you to work said land for sustainance.

Also, plan coups against anyone who tries to upset your new economic goldmine

18. Could he possibly understand that his "philosophy" is foolish, self-centered, and indefensible?
I know his ignorant, single-minded stubbornness was very attractive to the whorish media and his hard core supporters, but the retarded cowboy act just doesn't hold up to "lessons learned from the past" very well. I can never forgive that asshole for what he has done.
