Gibbons divorce case heading to trial

Gov. Jim Gibbons and his estranged wife, Dawn, failed to reach a compromise during a closed-door divorce settlement conference, and set a Dec. 28 trial date.

“We’re looking forward to a public trial,” the first lady’s lawyer, Cal Dunlap, said after the daylong meeting. He declined to discuss where the two sides could not agree.

For those who don't know, Jim Gibbons is perhaps the worst governor in the entire United States. He makes John Ensign look like a saint.

Maybe I will stay in town after all to watch the trial, provided it is open to the public.

3. I wonder if there was a big screwup

I've done settlement conferences and normally the attorney would provide copies of the briefing to the judge but not file anything with the clerk of the court. Settlement conference materials and discussions are supposed to be confidential.
