Wow, I love it when the cops get onside |
|
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2009/10/22/bc-olympic-protests-chu.htmlBasically the BC government has tried to restrict free speech during the olympics. I wanted this to result in massive, blood-soaked riots, but turns out the Police said, "Fuck you, we're not enforcing those laws." Yay!

4. When your government starts to restrict your free speech, they need to be beaten down with violence |
|
I was a reporter in BC for years. And one of the sad things I noticed was that the government is skilled in completely ignoring what people want and are saying. So, when they came out with their fascist plan to restrict free speech the people spoke against it en masse. Yet, they didn't even get a reply from the government.
When that happens you need to make them fear for their lives. I'm not kidding. We in north america are too fucking apathetic and don't realize how our rights are being slowly taken away.
I live in China now and see WAY too many similarities between the way government here operates and government back home adopting such tactics. When that happens you need to become violent.

3. our job is to protect free speech |
|
so i;'m glad to hear the cops did the right thing.
i hope the seattle police similarly ignore mayor nickels' gun ban (violative of state law and the attorney general agrees) in a similar show of respect for the rule of law.
fwiw, i was a riot cop during WTO. mayor schell, the mayor of seattle was instrumental in setting up "no free speech zones" which were BLATANTLY in violation of the 1st amendment. he was an idiot, and those laws were not to be enforced.

6. I'm hoping anyone who tries to enforce these provincial laws |
|
Are prosecuted. It's a blatant violation of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

But it seems a few commenters don't exactly trust Chief Chu.

Saying that he doesn't want to enter homes and remove signs.
He can be held to that statement.
