Costo is selling Going Rogue???!!!
I've been away from my computer since Friday, so if this topic has already been covered, please forgive me.

But I was at my local Costco yesterday and an employee was setting up a table for Sarah Palin's book. This was a special display table - not just part of the usual book section. I knew that Costco had sold Glen Beck's book, and O'Reilly's book, but Going Rogue?

I was a little annoyed and will make my feelings known to Costco customer service. Yes, I know - they have a right to sell what they want, etc., but it can't hurt to let them know that I hope Costco will not turn into a mirror image of Sam's.

3. They sell almost any popularbook that is selling lots of copies.
How much are THEY selling it for? I would think they're going to have to beat WM's pice of $8.99!

That's a good thing.

5. Why would you be upset. Costco is in the business of
selling stuff to their customers. Why should they not sell that book? It will sell to some of their customers who feel differently than you do.

Who cares? You don't want the book? Neither do I? I'm there to buy stuff I want to buy, not to worry about stuff I don't want to buy.

Worry about stuff that's important. That's my advice.

6. They often get good rates on books that are heading for the remainder bins.
Which is where "Going Rogue" is headed next.

7. Why would liberals
be for banning books, no matter how bad they may be?

This is when we go to such an extreme that we end up looking like the other side. I have met the enemy and it is me.

8. I find it extremely offensive that you would criticize a business for selling a fucking book
If you don't like it, don't buy it.

9. if they sold Beck and O'Reilly books why are you so surprised
Edited on Mon Nov-23-09 11:05 AM by jonnyblitz
they are selling Palin's? do you think Beck and O'Reilly worthy but Palin is not?

I find it bizarre you weren't bothered by the Beck and O'Reilly books but for Palin you even went so far as to let your feelings been known to customer service.

DUers seem extra worried and bothered by Palin for some reason. You all can't stop talking about her.

10. I've got no problem with this.
Costco is in business to make money and not all of their customers are left leaning Democrats.

If this was the ONLY book they were selling, I would have a problem with that.

..as long as they don't mind me burying them under other books so they can't be seen

14. Wow, and I was going to get a Costco membership ...
... rather than give any money to the Walton (Sam's Club) family ... now CostCo's off the list too.

Crap.

15. Go check your supermarket book aisle...
It's probably there also. Boycott everywhere GR is being sold and you might go hungry.

16. Costco sells anything they think will sell.
Chances are they got a really, really good deal on this book.

If it makes you feel any better, the one near me has perpetually high stacks of wingnut books and depleted stacks of Obama's book. That tells me a lot about how well each is selling.

17. I think how they treat their employees is far more important
than what books they sell.

My understanding is that Costco treats employees better than other such stores.

18. They'll lost money on it
But if they don't, think of it as getting money from wingnuts for them to use to pay their employees.

They have a right to sell what they want, and you ought to let them know what you do and don't like.

21. I'm not suggesting "book banning"
The fervor of some of these replies has really taken me by surprise. My, my, but DU really has changed lately.

Please note that the great part of my concern was the "special display" table that was being set up. I also clearly state that I know that Costco has a right to sell what they want, but I don't have a right to give them customer feedback???

No, I didn't buy the book and don't intend to buy the book. But I don't remember a special display table having been set up for any of Al Gore's books, Bill or Hillary's books, or even Barack Obama's book. In fact, I'm certain there hasn't been a special display table for any other book before in my local Costco.

But because I don't like that Costco is doing this - I'm supporting book banning? No, not quite.

24. Yeah I saw a big pallet of them.
No takers while I was watching...but then again I wasn't really watching too long. I just shook my head.

Costco can sell anything they want really. Doesn't mean I'll buy it...it's not exactly "Mein Kamf"...just a poorly written book about a poor thinker meant to grift money off of rubes...and grift it shall.
