Since Obama's inauguration there has been a 16% reduction of troops and a 52% increase of armed contractors. They source the Congressional Research Project. Google gives me this: http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:vye8QvanXYsJ:fpc.state.gov/documents/organization/130803.pdf+iraq+contractor+increase+congressional+research+service&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEEShHWBw0HOV1ponFwxkBwhZGtdJ-LPZX5etgLxaZTKpXOsOuvkUkdor8KuK8qge0rrZrDyA5o7ybGf849FKRbQ5qjcHMSi9TTc_JdJa0YQaAz7lfJf_GeHwmrXslBf_WURcE9IuE&sig=AHIEtbTG1zLEAx7Qx8xbPK3Tf4Ow1IBkRgBut, I can only find numbers for the increase between the 2nd & 3rd quarters of 2009. See page 11 of the report, which also states, "DOD attributed the increase to an increased security need as the military begins to draw down forces..."
