The Sad, Angry, Paranoid RW Mindset |

Edited on Wed Nov-25-09 03:25 AM by K8-EEE
OK this is the signature line of a batshit dittohead freeper type who posts on one of my music boards:
"The Christmas season is fast approaching. I will continue to say Merry Christmas even if offends others. Christmas is my holiday. If you don't like my offering of a happy season, oh well. I will not say Happy Holidays to make you or anyone else even if my Employer says not to say Merry Christmas so as not to offend others. They can't fire you for it. First Amendment rights. If you don't like it I have two words for you TOUGH .
Have a Merry Christmas... .."
Um....
Can't you just SAY Merry Christmas if you want and SEE IF SOMEBODY GIVES YOU SHIT ABOUT IT before GOING OFF ON EVERYONE? I'm sure nobody ever actually gave him any shit about it he just listens to all this FauxNews type "war on Christmas" garbage year after year to the point this is his permanent mindset.
But I'll bet I just put him over the deep end with my own "controversial" new sig line: HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

I don't know *anyone* who freaks if they hear "Merry Christmas". These people invent battles in their heads.

I think it is a small argument really. Was it just for something to say? I personally don't see anything activist about what you have said at all. Democratic? Maybe political on the verge of christmas paper wrapping thin because there is some mention of your First Amendment. But really what is your issue?

This Thanksgiving, I will give my heartfelt thanks that I am not a conservative. Freepers lead the very definition of "wasted lives". And they're miserable while they do it.
Nuts!

11. My attitude toward the "warriors" of the imaginary "War on Christmas" is this: |

Okay, Christian soldiers, just let me ask you this: Suppose it were actually true that somebody (e.g., Evil Libruls) finally managed to succeed in eliminating all public displays or expressions of Christmas. Would you then stop believing in it? Is the affirmation and approval of your religious holiday by the rest of the world, including believers in other faiths and nonbelievers, necessary in order that you can celebrate it? If you and your family were the only people in your entire city, or maybe in the entire country, who believed in the divinity of Jesus and the significance of his birth, would the failure of the rest of the population to believe the same way cause you to give up on your belief? Or does everybody else have to hang up lights and put up Christmas trees (which have a pagan origin) for you to be able to maintain your faith? Is your God so weak and feeble that he is diminished if some zitty nineteen-year-old minimum wage part-time clerk at Wal-Mart fails to say "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays" when you buy your cheap Chinese plastic Christmas gifts (and btw, "holiday" is merely a contraction of the words "holy day")?
It all kind of reminds me of the part in Peter Pan when Tinker Bell is getting weak and starting to fade and all the children have to clap to show they believe in fairies or else Tinker Bell will die. You fundies have turned Jesus into a sort of big cosmic Tinker Bell by in effect claiming that everybody has to "clap" for Jesus by saying Merry Christmas or else he'll just shrivel up and die. By taking on such a stupid and downright heretical attitude you, not we, are disrespecting and diminishing your own religion.

Honest to God I don't think ANY "Godless librul" campaign could EVER turn people off to religion the way some religious people do.

It is funny how despite all their rants about "political correctness" they are offended so easily when anyone brings up anything that they perceive as being incompatible with their own religion. They complain that political correctness prohibits people from saying anything that might offend someone yet they are constantly being offended by the tinniest things.

16. "Tough shit"? How festive. What a lovely sentiment. |

I'm sure the Lord would love to know that's how his birth is celebrated -- with profane expressions of disregard for others.
'Way to go, freakers.
