We had a lot of rubes from the Tri-shitties at my school. There is no deep sociological or psychological analysis necessary to understand the people from there.

Bottom line: They're just dumber than cow pies. That's all. They look pissed off because the world befuddles them, and they hate that they can't figure out shit.

I live in Portland; these Tri-Cities freaks drive the 200+ miles each way to shop here and the culture clash is enormous. They are dumber than shit, no doubt about it.

This being Shop Till You Drop weekend, a lot of their enormous trucks and SUVs are here in town following orders from Sarah to just buy crap.

Ellensburg isn't nearly as bad.

I loved Ellensburg and my 2 years there. There were enough of us "206ers" who kept things politically and intellectually balanced. Had some decent progressive professors who could calmly defuse the wingnut tripe coming from our tri-shitties cohorts. Liked being able to walk anywhere, and having downtown just blocks away. I miss those Super Mother Burgers from The Tav sometimes, lol.
