I was against Obama's Afghan policy when I voted for him, I'm not stupid!
I know what he said. So why people have to remind us over and over again, about what he said during the campaign, is beyond me.
I DID NOT give up opposition to the war in Afghanistan the day I got in my car and went to vote for Obama.
I did not agree to shut up, when I cast that vote. So stop saying that!
If all the people who opposed war in Afghanistan had stayed home, McCain might well be president.
I know scores of peace activists who voted for Obama. I don't know of a single one who was not aware of what Obama promised concerning Afghanistan during the campaign. We are not going to give up the cause for peace.

4. The problem with some of us "peaceniks" is...
That we so hate war, we don't understand the machinations. You can't just pull out... that's an automatic death sentence.

I'm willing to wait to hear what the prez has to say tomorrow before I hit him between the eyes with snark and rebellion.

Clearly there are too few like me... most here seem to want to shoot now and ask questions later... funny how that old adage swings both ways.

13. Snark and rebellion? Good grief, he's the president, not my mother.
And I understand "the machinations" very well, thanks. There will be bloodshed no matter when we pull out. Putting in more troops now will not change that.

10. As long as you don't lie about his policy
or pretend you didn't know what it was.

Criticize the Afghanistan war all you want, just don't bash Obama for betraying you.

15. I haven't seen that
as I said, it seems to me that we are pretty well informed. Didn't we all just follow a long presidential campaign?
I haven't seen anyone claim Obama promised to withdraw from Afghanistan.

As for betrayed, I personally feel that this war was a betrayal under Bush, and now it passes hands.
I felt betrayed when Obama used MLK Jr.'s quote "the fierce urgency of now", taken from, of all places, the "Beyond Vietnam" speech.
I urge everyone to read or listen to that speech.

16. I was hoping he would not keep that position when I voted for him.
I hope we finally get an exit strategy out of all this. This occupation must end sometime. As will the one in Iraq. I wish they were both sooner.

17. I thought the same thing.
I was hoping he was just saying that in order to pass the presidential examination.

War isn't good for anything. Maybe it makes money.

21. I blindly follow no one.
Of course you're not stupid. What idiot said you were?

I knew where Obama stood with this war, and I voted for him anyway. But I never thought that meant I'd signed a loyalty oath or a vow of silence.
