18. It looks way too fragile for confrontations.
Fast and agile would be its only saving graces.

20. Yeah, the boat's built for speed.
Trimaran configuration, aerodynamic shape. I'm not sure what tactics they have in mind.

2. where are the guns?
sink a couple of those fucking poachers.

what are they going to do with an unarmed boat, pull up next to the poachers and shout "booga booga" at them?

3. Watch "Whale Wars"
You'll find some very creative versions of "booga booga" that are quite effective.

4. yeah, i haven't seen that show yet.
will check it out.

however, i still think sinking the damned ships and then collecting the criminals for prosecution would be quite effective and immensely satisfying.

8. They maneuver to . . .
Edited on Tue Dec-01-09 10:34 AM by Richard D
. . . get between the whalers and the whales. It's actually quite effective in keeping the whales from getting harpooned and in frustrating the hell out of the whalers.

It looked like a huge set of speakers in the back of the boat as well. Wonder if that's what it was.

That had to be one of the most annoying voices I've ever heard.

11. i wish they would maneuver up to the Nisshin Maru, and sink the fuckers.
And when they are done there, they can head up north and stop the whaling in the Arctic and near Arctic.

SUCK IT, WHALERS!

Godspeed, Sea Shepherd. May Operation Waltzing Matilda be the last time you need to do this.

15. Some of the posters to this thread seem quite willing
to see hundreds of dead sailors. Heaven forbid kill a whale, no problem killing the crewmen on those Japanese vessels.

16. I'm against the loss of any life.
Be that life the life of a whale or a whaler. I'd love to see those ships sunk, though.

17. agree with you on the lost of life, human or otherwise
that is not what some of the previous posters want thought. They will only be satisfied when the the whalers are dead (davy jones locker), their children orphaned and their wives widowed.

The folks with the boats are committed to ending this non-violently, and that's what matters.

I just don't get it and I don't care if nouveau-antique Japanese maidens take *baths* in refined whale oil blubber there has to be a better way

26. Trojan Whale

They could take the same material and shape it as a whale. Remote control ballast, pink paint with an air-driven cannon. Have it come up off with no other whales off the bow of the whaler and when they fire you coat the front of their ship with stinky pink paint...

After a couple of those the person shooting the harpoon is bound to get shaky...
