Poll question: The Afghanistan escalation is a serious mistake of US policy- agree/disagree
don't have an opinion or hold a different one. I feel that this is going to be recognized as a very harmful decision in the long and short run for US.

Comments are encouraged.

4. This poll and your poll lack the timetable mention, so they aren't accurate, IMO. (nt)

6. no, they simply don't poll the questions YOU'D like to ask...
Edited on Tue Dec-01-09 02:03 PM by mike_c
...so why not start one that you like better?

Did you cast your vote, or are you complaining without voting?

15. I appreciated both your poll and this one.
A handful of the Obama/war enthusiasts were so vocal on every thread trying to demonize anyone who opposed the war that I was starting to lose faith in DU as a whole. It's reassuring to see it really is a small minority.

to we the people regardless of all else.

8. Catastrophic rather than serious. And, planned, rather than mistake.

10. I will wait to hear his justification...
...before deciding how catastrophically bad an idea this escalation is.

But I've heard "exit plan" so much that it doesn't say much to me. I think he is taking a better approach than Bush, but we'll see if it's enough. We should be gradually withdrawing troops starting now, with a total exit date not far out. No solution is perfect, but leaving is better IMO than the huge spending over there - and the best way to stop terror is not occupation.

19. A "mistake" is thinking another car in a parking lot is yours. This is a DISASTER.
