Party-crashing attention whores
Salahi denies being White House party crasher
By EILEEN SULLIVAN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON – The couple who got into the White House state dinner for the visiting Indian prime minister without invitations denied Tuesday that they were gatecrashers and said the uproar over the incident had "destroyed" their lives.

Appearing on a nationally broadcast morning news show with his wife, Tareq Salahi said the furor surrounding his and his wife Michaele's attendance at the dinner a week ago has been a "most devastating" experience. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs described President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama as angered by the incident.

Salahi told NBC's "Today" show there's more to their side of the story — an explanation that would exonerate them from allegations of misconduct. Gibbs insisted the Salahis had not been invited.

"This wasn't a misunderstanding," the spokesman said. "You don't show up at the White House as a misunderstanding."

Said Salahi: "We're greatly saddened by all the circumstances ... portraying my wife and I as party crashers. I can tell you we did not party-crash the White House." ............(more)

1. They could always, you know, produce an invitation.
If they aren't party crashers, they surely received one of some variety. I'm certain they'll have no difficulties showing the rest of the world if what they say is true.

3. Doesn't it seem a reasonable plot for an agent to gain access to big players?

4. Put up, or STFU...
They need to be destroyed by this... so they can never pull this kind of stupid prank again. I hope the book is thrown at them, in a big, fat Fed way... and all their accomplices too.

Karma, dumbasses.

7. "destroyed their lives?" HOW?
The destroyed lives are our soldiers and their families......caused by power hungry, greedy, egomaniacs.

The destroyed lives are those who have lost their homes......caused by power hungry, greedy, egomaniacs.

The destroyed lives are those who lost jobs, health insurance, etc.,....
caused by power hungry, greedy, egomaniacs.

These two ego-maniacs haven't lost a damn thing, and I personally hope they rot in hell for using the media and taking the focus off those that are truly hurting.

6. Sounds like they're madly laying the groundwork
for their defense! I don't think these people expected the public outcry against their caper, not to mention the FBI's involvement. And heavens, they're also claiming they were invited to the Congressional Black Caucus dinner. You've got to be impressed with their gall to set themselves down at a $20,000 table -- in another couple's seats!

8. I was listening to POTUS on Sirus this morning.
The host (I've forgotten which one) refused to give them any more publicity. So when he needed to refer to them in the news segment, he called them the Voldemorts.

9. The bottom line is that they pointed out a weakness in Obama's security...
perhaps because security got caught with their pants down, a real attempt at harming Obama or his quests may be stopped.

Obama deserves and needs the very best security in the world.

True, the couple was not armed, but well trained unarmed individuals can severely injure or possibly kill another individual easily.

10. I'm not sure which is worse: them, or the transparent elitism that has surfaced.
After you get past discussions of security failure, after you accept that what they did was completely inappropriate from a security standpoint - and you then start listening to the insiders, the media, the rich Washington socialites and more than a few people here talk about it.....

You get to see the curtain pulled back on the rampant elitist snobbery and self-serving nonsense that permeates politics and culture.

Half the reason I think the Washington is crowd are so upset about this has nothing to do with the security danger (which it should) - it has to do with "commoners" in their little club, tarnishing their feeling of elitism. When some "no body" shows up, it "cheapens" the whole experience for the "special."
