Why don't they expose the true numbers of soldiers ?
So far as we were told only the ones who died in Iraq or Afghanistan are counted yet the ones that died once lifted off to a hospital are not counted and certainly those wounded which usually means missing body parts are not even mentioned .

Also how many members in each family are left with this.

It does matter but it goes without mention.

Perhaps Obama can bring this up tonight.

2. The cost for the care of all
of the wounded rarely sems to be mentioned. Many of these soldiers have injuries that will require a life time of medical care. They don't just come back fine or in a coffin. There are probably 10s of thousands of wounded who will need care for a very long time.

Why do we need to add to these numbers? At some point someone has to say enough is enough.

Perhaps someone should propose not just a sur tax on the war but a tax to pay for the countless years of medical care these returning vets need and deserve.

3. This story -- that the casualty counts don't include those who are injured...
...in theater and die elsewhere -- has been circulating for ages, despite being exploded on famous right-wing sites like Daily Kos.

The war is bad enough -- don't add lying to it.

5. Just like when Bush did nothing about Katrina. How many died?
And sometimes they need the "Pat Tilley" recruitment
effect. Would you let those POWs die without rescuing them? This lowering of numbers allows the war to go on indefinitely. They can always tell us they are probably captured.

A good friend of mine who passed away said he would take officers to the jungles of Viet Nm and leave them stranded there because they were not good for business.

7. not this shit again
Its been years since this nonsense was put to rest. The count of fatalities in iraq and afghanistan includes those who died in military hospitals in Germany, the US and elsewhere from injuries incurred in Iraq or Afghanistan.

8. Really ? I do recall Rummy being asked this directly
I saw it live and he admitted no they were not counted. And no it was not on fox shit TV. I have not a thing about this since. Also as I did say add in the wounded who are still breathing who are not in these numbers we only have a guess on how many there are.

That number alone makes your point mute.

9. Sorry, but whatever you recall didn't happen

If rumsfeld had been asked that and given that answer it would be easily found with a google search. Search away, you won't find it.

go to icasualties.org -- they list every fatality and give the place of death.

And they also list the number of wounded, by state, by service category, etc.

10. When I first came here my big question was why aren't all the dead and dying counted?
after much back and forth I now believe they are all counted and counted in real time
