The Change I Voted For
Most people apparently voted for the President because they thought he was going to save the world. I did not do it for that.

Most people apparently voted for the President because they thought he would stand up to the financial industry. I did not do it for that.

Most people apparently voted for the President because they thought he would get health care reform passed. I did not it for that.

Most people apparently voted for the President because he would end both wars. I did not do it for that.

Most people apparently voted for the President because he would end 'don't ask, don't tell.' I did not do it for that.

Most people apparently voted for the President because he would close Gitmo. I did not do it for that.

I voted for the President because unlike what some people on the right think-this country is more than just about white Christian small town people whatever value they may have. This country is about male, female white, black, Hispanic, Asian, Ameri-Indian, Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Scientoligists, gay, straight, bi, transgender, native, immigrant, rich, poor, middle class, urban, rural and letting ANY combination of those kind of people live their lives in the way that they can. That the day had come for a black person to be President, that a woman can be Speaker, that a Supreme Court jurist can be a wise Latina, that no matter what combination of American you are, you can be whatever it is that you truly want.

That is the change I voted for and I got it. So I have nothing to be disappointed about.

President Obama is a politician not a miracle worker and I never had any other expectations so I have no reason to kvetch. :)

3. Then I'd say that sounding like Obama is a very good thing.
Obama has just shown that he is principled and will take a stand on an issue. Maybe not the stand you would take, but you aren't the president either, thankfully.

4. +1 -- the romance of some vague racial issue at work here.
but no -- certainly not principled in a way you could pin down.

7. I do, President Obama matched none of them as either a candidate
or as President.

But I never expected him to nor did I require it.

I believed however we were more than what certain Americans thought we were and my vote was to reflect that.

2. Unless you live in Afghanistan,
are enlisted in the armed services, are GLBT or work for a living. Is that what you meant?

5. I work for a living, my best friend is GLBT, and I have several friends
in the armed forces, one of whom is in Afghanistan right now.

So I know the stakes but I have no reason to kvetch-I expected everything that the President has done because he never struck me as a fighter or really that much on the side of Main Street.

10. Do you want a brownie?
Bully for you? You already had low expectations, so now you're in the clear? woo hoo . That what you want?

My only son is on his third deployment. Your OP said YOU voted for Obama because the country is about the things you list. The people in your list are not benefiting from his administration.

I think the issue here is that you are just confused.

6. I'm glad the appearances work for you
I was hoping for more substance.

8. Did you not pay any attention at ALL during the entire campaign?
Obama was about as lightweight as you could come-yeah he was smart but he was a wholly owned subsidiary of the people who run Wall Street and the like. Not a fighter for the little guy in any stretch of the imagination and had not been for a long time.

9. I was hoping for Kucinich
And after the nomination, I had to hope for less.
