Acknowledged the risks, what is at stake, what we will attempt to do, but most importantly established a clear timeline for our mission to be accomplished. Regardless of all the heat I've taken and will continue to take. Pakistani nuke security is a big issue, moreso than most on du will admit. I was surprisingly impressed with the acuity and directness of his speech.

But Obama was clearly threading a needle between several concerns with many of those being very deadly and unpalatable as such

He seemed to be teetering in his palm a handful of key poetries in such a way that they were hoped to justify if not placate these very opinions being turned back on him at this hour, and many here knew it would be thus; while standing before the belly of the beast in the occasional silence & stillness he was less able to read as quickly as I thought he needed to as he paused a word or two a phrase, it's not that he seemed to leave the impression that he was a fish out of water - more like he was flushed with the knowledge he is but one fish in a rolling ocean

I bet that will be a 'wear & wash' dress shirt he takes back upstairs, cause that was a very grim audience and rightly so

1.- Timeline to end of this, 2011... (and no use of when they stand up we stand down)

2.- We are there to contain and defeat the threat (very real mind you) that resides in Warizistan, to both the Paki state (and their nukes) and us. (And very poorly articulated but that is the strategic reason)

3.- We are getting the help of allies, including India (not made clear how)

4- We are co opting local leaderships and going around Karzai, which fuck we need to recognize but not work with.

Yes there was a history that had to have 9.11 because this started on 9.11 and the mandatory we are fucked mostly because I am scratching my head as to how we will pay for this. But I have hopes that doing thorugh the regular process and kicking contractors out will help.

Oh and I am sure some folks in DOD are thinking we are fucked. If this works, big if, the plebes in the audience tonight will not get to punch an infantry combat badge...
