Should we change the name of DU now?
Edited on Tue Dec-01-09 11:30 PM by theophilus
I mean there seems to be so much opposition to President Obama can we keep the capital "D"? Maybe just democratic Underground for free speech or just "underground"? So many are claiming that Mr. Obama has "lost his base". Does that mean many here no longer support Mr. Obama as President? Should they be here?

How about some new name suggestions? I don't think Democratic Underground applies anymore.

Thanks.

(I don't know what a "bast" is, either.)

Oh all right: "all his base are belong to them".

Personally, when I lose my bast the way the Presnit has, I feel a sense of shame and don't like to talk about it. He should behave appropriately and demonstrate a proper appreciation of social decorum, and go into seclusion until he is rehabilitated by group approbation after he demonstrates his eagerness to participate in mutual affirmation and recognition with his peers.

Fuck the boneassed shit goin round...

5. Are you saying that in order to call yourself a Democrat...
...you must agree with any action a president takes as long as he says he's a Democrat?

Why not ask "can we change his party affiliation now?" ???

Just trying to cling to Democratic ideals--like no wars.
Perhaps Obama should come BACK to us--instead of us following him off the cliff?

Think I remember seeing that on a sign or two at some DC protests a few years ago.

Yes, the rule still applies. It seems you'd prefer "ShutTheFuckUpUnderground" for a new site name, but it doesn't really roll off the tongue.

33. What goes on in the privacy of the voting booth is between the Democrat and Diebold...
Obama's Afghan policy will not determine my vote. If I had wanted to vote for an anti-war candidate, I would have wasted my vote on Ron Paul. The Peace movement will have to decide if they prefer purity or having someone in office who will do some things that they like. Because if all they wanted was a President who would declare peace and go home, Obama wasn't it.

But I think engaging in a healthy discussion about peace and how to get there is good for us.

36. Remember that DU in absolutely NO WAY represents any kind of reality
in the country. That pretty much has held true now for quite a few years now, ever since Skinner allowed Greens and other anti-Democratic party independents to stay. (which I still think was a bad decision.) All they have to do is shut up about the Democratic Party from the end of the primaries until election day (about 4 months or so) every two years. Then they can trash the Democratic Party all they want the rest of the time.
