Dying American City Marion, Indiana Invites Al-Queda To Consider Relocating To Their City
The small blue-collar town of Marion, Indiana has put out a call to the Taliban and Al Queda leadership to consider relocating to their fair city in the hopes that maybe the US Government will spend billions in reconstruction and development projects to stabilize the region and provide security for the residents. The city leaders admit that this is a radical, last-chance, Hail Mary attempt to save their once proud, fully employed city. The city leaders have included in their proposal to the Taliban and Al Queda rent free use of the several of the large manufacturing facilities that litter the county and that were once used by General Motors and other auto related industries for their operations.

The Mayor of Marion, Indiana Wayne Seybold has even gone so far as to consider planting large poppy fields in and around Marion to make the Taliban feel at home and to provide yet another reason for the US government to spend billions on the depressed area.

"The fact is that this is our last chance at saving our city. We simply do not know what else to do to get the attention of Washington politicians. Some on our city-council have even offered to change their names to scary sounding ones like Osama Bin Leroy and Mullah Darryl if that will help" said Seybold.

12. That was Milan, Indiana
Marion is a small city. Milan is tiny.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milan,_Indiana

I actually know the guy, Bobby Plump, that hit the shot that won the game for Milan. We have tipped a few glasses of beer together on several occasions. He owns a bar down the street from me called "Plumps Last Shot." The bar is a shrine to Indiana basketball and sometimes Bobby comes by and tells some very funny and interesting stories about Indiana basketball. I like the bar because dogs are welcome on the deck.

17. Yep...popcorn capital of the world
and birthplace of James Dean.

Never been there, but I've been to Van Buren. Saw the whole town in about five minutes. Took longer to tour the popcorn plant.

Outside of Door County it was the whitest place I've ever been.

19. I think James Dean was born in Fairmount, Indiana
Which, by the way, is only a mile or two from Marion, IN.
