Like everyone else here on DU, I simply post my opinions here. They're my opinions, and not those of anyone else. Unless I call someone a name or break other rules on this site, my posts stand for all to read and comment on.

Trust me, they are not always well-received, either. I get plenty of people disagreeing with what I write. And yet, my voice is not stifled in any way. Nobody tells me I may not post my opinion. If I say something stupid, I get called on it. If I say something clever, people mention that.

I can derail nothing. I can only post my opinion, make a joke, or read without comment. Can some DUers do more than that? As far as I know, only moderators are able to delete posts or lock threads.

Maybe you know something I don't.

of people who have hidden profiles. Since you can control what's in it, it doesn't make any sense to hide it. It was interesting that someone who had a hidden profile was complaining about not being able to tell how long someone had been here or how many posts he/she had made. Just interesting.

I haven't really been following these threads, but I see that there are some others just up today that are making all sorts of wild accusations, including one that accuses DU of being in someone's pocket. That's pretty weird, since it's clearly not true, based on the varied membership and variety of disputing posts.

I have no idea what you're talking about. And yes, I read this thread. I read lots of threads every day. I comment on a few of them.

Sometimes I write a new one. Some of those have stayed near the top for quite some time. Others, which I thought to be quite clever, have sunk like a rock. You just never know what will capture people's attention and get them posting. Threads that have lots of posts float to the top. The rest sink.

I know of no way to control that, other than to contribute threads that become popular.
