Regarding my yesterday's post: I want to thank everybody.
Wow I must admit I am a bit stunned (in a good way) at all the responses in this thread. I don't know what say.

I really want to thank everybody who responded. I have to admit I didn't think this would get the kind of response it did. I always knew of course there are lots of kind folks here on the DU which is one of the reasons why I joined to begin with. But ever since a threshold was reached with me regarding snide and pompous comments I see some people make against fellow Democrats I have to admit it contributes to the level of disgust and frustration I feel about seeing our beautiful country going down the toilet to the benefit of modern day robber barons.

My decision yesterday to leave was largely based on this frustration and some of character sniping I see from folks who are fellow Democrats just raise my level of disgust and frustration.

But then something unexpected happened. All of you who responded with words of encouragement and request for me not to go made me realize I can't leave a group like DU where there are so many nice folks who are struggling to fight for economic and social justice and who are just as frustrated as I am. You reminded me that what is traditionally regarded as Democratic traits is still alive and in the majority. Frustrated and beat up a bit perhaps, but, still alive and passionate about fighting for economic and social justice. For that I am very appreciative.

I would like to post one other thought. First, I would never tell someone what to do (gawd knows I never responded well to authority). But I would like to ask those folks who feel compelled to wage in character sniping (to include certain gender based remarks) to reframe and instead either bite your tongue or just engage in mature debate. I don't ask this for myself. I ask this because I know good people have left DU over this and I think that is a loss for us all.

Again I want to thank all those who responded it made a difference in reminding why I joined the DU in the first place. Thanks everyone.

:dem:

Peace,
Xicano

4. As I said in that thread, you seem OK, and you should hang around.
I still couldn't name where you stand on any issue, but then, I try not to pay much attention to which posters have which beliefs, except when that's impossible.

And thanks too for your calm, sage words of advice; this place does get overheated at times.

7. PUHLEASE!
I've seen fifty people do this over and over... For example, isn't Will the Pitt still here, or is he still in the middle of a "I've had it with you people" cycle? Boring.

8. Would that not be logical? D.U. has over 150,000 registered users,
coming on to this site at various stages of time.

Considering they're all human with the standard emotions and feelings of loyalty, frustration, joy, cynicism, belonging, disappointment, dejection, pride and hurt, it's inevitable that "I've had it" threads will take place, some may have left and some may have merely been looking for affirmation, but the dynamic seems natural to me and to some degree beneficial to the site.

For whatever it's worth, I'm glad Xicano decided to stay.

12. Imagine what it was like to be a Democrat when Dixiecrats ruled the roost?

Sometimes sniping is a good practice. Should we snipe at Obama? Do we want peace?

As OP pointed out, you gotta make your 1000. Then you can prop up your feet, have some popcorn and look back on a job well done.;)

18. " to reframe and instead either bite your tongue or just engage in mature debate."
What changed? Nothing.

Good luck but don't be surprised at the various brands of bigotry when you come across them. It ain't purty.
