Climate Change Hearings

Oxfam recently held hearings across Africa to listen to those affected by climate change. The final hearing was in Cape Town and was chaired by Archbishop Desmond Tutu. I was invited to sit on the 4 man panel with him to interview the witnesses. We heard testimonies from farmers and fishermen across Africa who are struggling to cope with the impacts of climate change.

The witnesses accounts were all consistent - prolonged droughts, followed by floods, followed by more droughts …. leading to crop failure and loss of livestock. The impact of climate change is already devastating parts of Africa.
