Cadet waiting for president caught reading anti-Obama book
Edited on Thu Dec-03-09 11:54 AM by kpete
Osama bin Laden book makes cover of Wall Street Journal
December 2, 2:32 PMBook Buzz ExaminerBill Freehling

A cadet at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. is pictured on the front page of today's Wall Street Journal deeply absorbed in a book as he awaits the start of President Barack Obama's speech last night.

Obama called for the deployment of 30,000 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan in the primetime address.

"Kill Bin Laden" is the book in the cadet's hands. Talk about some free advertising for the publisher. The Wall Street Journal is the country's top-circulating paper.

"Kill Bin Laden" is an eyewitness account of the Battle of Tora Bora told by "Dalton Fury," a pseudonym for a former Army major who led the Delta Force covert mission and whose goal was to kill Osama bin Laden just weeks after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

...............

The UK Times Online has a story entitled "Conservatives hail West Point cadet who read 'Kill Bin Laden' - but who is he?"

Officials at West Point would not identify the cadet today, but his choice of reading material was hailed on conservative websites in the US as a rebuke to President Obama’s circumscribed new strategy for Afghanistan, which does not specifically target bin Laden and makes no mention of the word “victory”.

The picture was taken in the academy’s Eisenhower auditorium an hour and a half before Mr Obama took the podium there for his address to the nation on Tuesday night. For security reasons, cadets were seated four hours before the speech and many brought reading and study material, an academy spokesman said.

1. Wouldn't that be an anti-OSAMA book?
Or is it also anti-Obama?

5. You would think so
And an anti-Bush book as well, right? Or did Obama use his time machine to go back and be President for that too?

7. It appears that the "anti-Obama" angle is coming from RWers' interpretation
of the photo.

3. What makes the book "anti-Obama"?
I've never heard of this book. Neither link indicates why it's "anti-Obama" (or maybe I missed something).

9. Don't they mean an "anti-Bush" book?
Seeing as Tora Bora happened under his watch, and he failed to follow through and get Bin Laden. But let's not allow those silly little "fact" thingies to interrupt conservative revisionist history.

10. Wrong book
The book they're saying is anti-Obama is the one to his right. brad Thor's The Apostle which is a fiction book with a fictional president 'based' on Obama who is all sorts of not nice in a sub-plot of the book (adulterous, murder, etc).

That's the book they're refering to as anti-Obama.

No More Benefit Of The Doubt For Obama by Brad Thor

No one wants to believe that their government, or the people within it are intentionally trying to ruin their country. We, as Americans, inherently look for the good in people.

Rush has been saying from the get-go that Obama is intentionally destroying the economy and demonizing capitalism. Obama has been called a Socialist, a Marxist and a Communist. I believe the Democratic party does not represent the "nice Democrats next door" at all anymore. Good Democrats have allowed their party to be hijacked. The hijackers are the far (and in some cases not-so-far) left. They are hardcore Statists bent on an endgame utopia with Communism as the model.

Obama's administration openly lauds and employs Communists, Maoists, Socialists, etc. His cabinet is filled not with people experienced in true, "real world" economics like running a private sector business and creating jobs, but leftist elitists, academic eggheads, and Government carp:

Look below at this 1934 cartoon that the Chicago Tribune reran in July and tell me that you still think Obama is simply naive. I do not believe that. I believe he surrounds himself with hardcore Leftists, Statists, Progressives, Maoists, Marxists, Socialists and Communists because they share his views 100%. Show me your friends and I will show you your future (h/t Glenn Beck's mom).

I do not have one single friend who is a Marxist, Socialist, Communist, Maoist... How about you? How about your spiritual guidance? Does it come from a man whose pews you sat in for 20 years (1,000 Sundays) who denigrates your nation and praises Socialism and Marxism?

No more benefit of the doubt for Obama. We need to fight him and his agenda with every last breath in our bodies in order to stop what he and the American-hating-leftists are trying to do to our great country..

12. The part that doesn't make sense...
...is that the cadets had to be seated a full four hours before the speech began.

That makes no sense.

16. On Killing is not anti Obama. The Cadet was prob doing homeowrk
From Publishers Weekly
Drawing on interviews, published personal accounts and academic studies, Grossman investigates the psychology of killing in combat. Stressing that human beings have a powerful, innate resistance to the taking of life, he examines the techniques developed by the military to overcome that aversion. His provocative study focuses in particular on the Vietnam war, revealing how the American soldier was "enabled to kill to a far greater degree than any other soldier in history." Grossman argues that the breakdown of American society, combined with the pervasive violence in the media and interactive video games, is conditioning our children to kill in a manner siimilar to the army's conditioning of soldiers: "We are reaching that stage of desensitization at which the infliction of pain and suffering has become a source of entertainment: vicarious pleasure rather than revulsion. We are learning to kill, and we are learning to like it." Grossman, a professor of military science at Arkansas State University, has written a study of relevance to a society of escalating violence.

18. So..one would think that bending over backwards to try & please
people who are never going to see things your way, may not be that successful? One only has to look back to the Clinton years to see how well that plan will work.

You don't need a majority to hobble a president. The only party willing to "work across the aisle" seems to be the democratic party. republicans have never been interested in bipartisanship. they know that winning is all that matters, and if you cannot "win", then the next best thing is making the guy who beat you, LOSE.
