Correct, Chris Matthews. "Homeland" is a neo-con word.
It bothers me to hear democrats uttering it. It should be replaced with something like, I don't know, country?

3. Plus, that woman was an unapologetic apologist for the administration.
Too bad he didn't call her on it.

4. Yes, I find "Homeland" disturbing
It reminds me of the German "Heimat" or "Vaterland", which were colloquialisms turned into an ultra-nationalist words.

And yet, the British used terms like "Home Guard" for their equivalent of the National Guard, or the BBC "Home Service".

I'd much prefer the name "Domestic" or "National".

5. Never cared for THAT term.
Seeing that the Nazi's used it, I cringe when western nations do the same.

6. Way too close to motherland/fatherland
The implications of that word are chilling, I remember being in shock when I first heard proposed a "Homeland Security" department.

The only "homeland security" we need is our armed forces. This domestic secret police force is right out of a dystopian nightmare.

8. To me it is fantastically ironic neo-Orwellian speak
Homeland Security seems an admission of empire. Proving conclusively that the "Department of Defense" is not.

12. A "Nation" or a "Country" has Citizens
A "homeland" has subjects and Leaders. Subjects don't question policies that Leaders say are necessary to protect them.
