University of Colorado bans Nerf Guns
CU Bans Nerf Guns
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) ― A gun of a different sort has been banned from the campus at the University of Colorado.

Police say the use of Nerf guns is a violation of campus policy
The guns are used as part of a college game called "Humans Versus Zombies." The zombie team wears bandanas on their heads, and the human team puts bandanas on their arms. From there it's a game of tag, where the humans can freeze the zombies for 15 minutes by shooting them with a Nerf gun.

CU says they can still play the game, but they can only use balled up socks.

Simulated weapons are banned at CU because they could be mistaken for real ones.

I just love feel good bans - makes me feel all safe and free....not.

2. Anything that moves a mass from one place to another is scary to people
The fear - they use it for patriot act and other liberty stealing laws. But hey, freedom is only something libertarians want, and we would not want to be labeled that....

3. They can have my balled up socks when they pry them from my cold dead.....
 I once got suspended from junior high school for throwing a nerf football in the school (outdoor) courtyard. "I might break a window." Guess that's when I started hating authority.

9. How can you mistake a nerf gun for a real gun?
Better be careful. It might be a real photon laser, or Fisher-Price grenade launcher.

21. There several different stories. This was the first one when I google.
I remember when I was living in California a cop shot a kid at the elementary school across the street from our house because he thought he a real gun. True story.

23. Reminds me somehow of Abstinence Only programs..
Let me see...

OK, we used to have gun safety classes available in the middle school grades, probably still do in some places.

I submit that the world would be a safer place with these classes, but the anti-gun crowd would never have that.

Isn't that attitude similar to the anti-sex ed crowd with their Abstinence Only shit?

Like if we don't discuss something, it won't happen?

I dunno...

24. Surely a 7 day waiting period with a background check is sufficient.
An outright ban of Nerf guns seems a bit extreme.
