Rachel: America without a middle class. |
|
We can expect lots of help from the Republicans to fix this problem. Yeah, right! Exactly what they have been trying to achieve. There will finally be a wealthy ruling class and a peasant underclass to serve them again. What is left of the middle class will be terrified into helping them maintain it if they have their way.

I live in a town where many of the union mill workers are Republican. They all think they are working class heroes and worth every penny they are paid. They vote Republican because they think it keeps their taxes down and protects their gun rights. They have no clue of the history of the labor movement and how they got those wages and benefits. A lot of my friends got their jobs out there because their dads worked there. They must have felt that their union job was safe and to hell with everybody else. Part of me would love to see what would happen if they got shut down, or bought out and fired. Then be hired back at way lower wages. The way things are now they would have no choice but to take whatever they are offered. I have to actually hope that doesn't happen for the sake of my democrat friends there and our local economy.
