1. Obama's life could have been at stake
The fact that two people were able to waltz straight into the WH because no-one was there with a list to back up the SS. First time it's happened in 20 odd years.
Yes, I do think someone from the WH staff needs to answer for this.

3. The Villagers Want Blood...
Once the corporate media gets onto a story, it won't let go until there's blood. Tiger Woods infidelities were assumed, speculated upon and made such a big stink (probably cause someone was about to drop the dime on him) the coverage was relenteless...the corporate media smelled blood and sure enough got it. They still haven't gotten blood in this story...either from inside the White House or seeing the scammers frogmarched into a court room. Either way, they're not finished with this piece of meat.

4. They didn't want any of Rove's... Surely that was a bone
more deserving of a gnaw..

Yes the gatecrashers should be subject to consequences, and yes, the loopholes in security should be closed.. but it makes me FURIOUS that the media dog is so baldly partisan when it comes to it's kibble.

5. It's The Village Pissing Match...
Sadly Axelrod and Emanuel aren't Rove...with the weapons to intimidate that Rove did...as well as a paid-for network (faux) out there constantly giving him cover. And, begrugrudingly, to Rove's credit...he knew how to control the corporate media...which buttons to push to make them dance to his tune.

These sharks are going after small prey here...just as they did under booosh. They did go after a Monica Goodling (not enough as far as I was concerned), but enough to get her to quit and they got their piece of meat. Same game here, just different players. If anything, this reminds me of "Travelgate"...a cause both the wingnuts and the corporate media couldn't get enough of cause it was so low level.

6. A tempest in a teapot
A detraction from Health Care Reform, a couple of illegal wars, the national debt and other rather trivial things that are bringing this country to it's knees.

9. On Big Ed's program last night, one guest pointed out that
having the social secretary or one of her staff next to the SS would not add a darned thing to the fact that the SS should be able to read a list. This is a political tempest in a teapot. The sudden concern of the RW for Obama's safety is touching given that they have been sending out dog whistles for his assassination and lugging guns to events.

10. The key is whether the President doesn't want him to testify.
Congress has a harder time compelling testimony (even with a subpoena) from the executive branch if the executive doesn't want it to happen.

I don't know whether that's the case here.

12. That's the case. Obama dusted off yet another Bush tactic, the "separation of powers" stall, to
justify not permitting Desiree Rogers testify.

15. I wouldn't call it a "stall"... and it's ok to say it now that shrub is gone.
These kinds of disputes are more an inherrent part of the structure of our government than they are partisan in nature. It's entertaining to watch people "change teams" as they move from legislative to executive roles (or visa versa) and see things in an entirely new light.

11. Between this and Amanda Knox, where is the effing news?
Why won't the MSM ever toss that back at them re: Rove and the Valeria Plame leak? Oh, that's right. The MSM never really ever TALKED about Valerie Plame. My bad.

13. Simple because someone who was not invited by the elite
snuck into one of their parties and embarrassed all of them. The President has the best security in the world and a couple of reality TV stars got in uninvited.

Now, I do not have any sympathy for the the party crashers. Given our nation's history of violence to elected leaders it is something that needs to be investigated.

However, what would happen if these folks might sneak into an Oscar party or such other event that Matt has unique access to..

18. Yes, she should testify
And yes, so should Rove.

She apparently changed established protocol/procedures which MAY have prevented this horrible lapse which could have ended tragically. She herself needs to explain why she changed the procedure and take responsibility for that change instead of leaving the explanation to others like Gibbs.

It appears she spent a lot of time insuring that she would be a GUEST at this event instead of being staff or overseeing the staff once the event got underway.

She is being protected by cronyism and I hate that this is happening in this administration.

:sarcasm:

Its guerilla marketing and Lauer is the shill. He's being paid to keep it in the news. Up next? Balloon Boys of Madison County. Lauer would release the balloon himself if he thought it would curry favor with one of his bosses.
