Exclusive: Beck’s movie bombs in New York (17 Tickets sold) Boston (17 tickets) D.C. (30 tickets)
http://www.ncm.com/FathomContent/PDF/Participating_Theatres_GBXMAS_LIVE.pdf

In New York, Beck sold 17 tickets. In Boston, another 17. And in Washington, D.C., the hotbed of political activism, his tearful film drew only 30.

While Glenn Beck's new movie The Christmas Sweater – A Return To Redemption -- which released for a viewing Thursday night in hundreds of theaters across the country -- performed better in rural areas, his ability to draw viewers in major US markets was a bust.

"The theater's almost empty," a representative at Regal Cinemas in Manhattan told Raw Story moments before it began.

The flick features the firebrand Fox News host sharing with willing souls his most profound childhood memories, along with his philosophies on life, love and happiness.

4. Why would anyone think to premiere it in Urban areas?
New York, Boston and DC? Geez, maybe my home town will be next!

What I'm saying is that it's a little too early to write it off, seeing as the real audience for that piece of shlock is probably somewhere other than the aforementioned cities.

10. I'll Attempt To Give A Serious Answer
Apparently they let the FOXNews hysteria about the Teabagger Movement and RW dissent get to their heads.

That's the only logical explanation for this.

If someone else has a better answer, be my guest...I'd really like to know.

5. Don't forget
beck's intricate +/- formula. Those actual numbers could be as high as 140 million indicating yet another brilliant and overwhelming success for conservative values. And don't forget glen and his band of "patriots" have us surrounded.

6. And I'm sure Faux "News" will dig up some file tape
Maybe from the Inauguration. They'll show the crowds in the Mall and say they're waiting at the theatre to buy tickets!

16. The theaters spent more in cleaning up the vomit from the movie watchers
that wandered in unknowingly, than they made at the ticket office.

20. Once or twice in my life
Edited on Fri Dec-04-09 11:48 AM by drm604
I've had to kill a couple of hours so I went a theater and bought a ticket for whatever was starting next. These numbers are low enough that this may account for them. They may have been people who needed a place to hang out for a couple of hours and never heard of Glenn Beck.

I should add that the name of the movie "The Christmas Sweater – A Return To Redemption" may have misled a few uninformed people to think that this was some sort of uplifting Christmas movie.
