Scholars question validity of new conservative online Bible project
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The Conservative Bible Project, an online effort to create a Bible suitable for contemporary conservative sensibilities, claims Jesus' quote is a disputed addition abetted by liberal biblical scholars, even if it appears in some form in almost every translation of the Bible.

The project's authors argue that contemporary scholars have inserted liberal views and ahistorical passages into the Bible, turning Jesus into little more than a well-meaning social worker with a store of watered-down platitudes.

"Professors are the most liberal group of people in the world, and it's professors who are doing the popular modern translations of the Bible," said Andy Schlafly, founder of Conservapedia.com, the project's online home.

1. Here's the thing... one made-up holy book is as "valid" as any other.
It's just a little Council of Nicea for the 21st century.

7. Exactly. All scripture is subject to the opinions and biases of the translators.
Duh.

2. Is this one of Phyllis Schafly's offspring?

5. Hilarious
These guys say that "professors" are too liberal for this work. But a professor by definition is a scholar, so they want zero scholarship in the translation of their religious text. They want fools to interpret what they consider to be the words of their God and basically say that anyone with the proper education to do the job is a "liberal".

So they are the good fools as opposed to the evil, smart liberals.

Not much of a recommendation.

6. That's a tremendous idea. Now they can treat Kabbalistic mysteries of The Torah...

in the same ways they relieve themselves on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phyllis_Schlafly
