I'm hearing absolutely nothing about this right now. This guy needs to be replaced with another Democrat.

4. No.
He's got over 30 counties in his District. Stop for a minute and REALLY think about that. He's well entrenched. Someone would have to work all of those counties and it is pretty remote! Imagine trying to buy airtime in such a huge territory! Or even trying to hook up with all the county parties! And of course the District chair works closely with Stupak, he who had a great deal of say on who actually held that position.

No, there is no way anyone is delusional enough to think they could beat him. Therefore there will be no primary challenger.

5. You've got great points, Julie
Even though there are very few stations covering the district (Cadillac, Traverse City, St. Ste. Marie, Marquette, Cheboygan), he's been there too long and it's just too conservative. That's why he's a DINO. I grew up in about the only "liberal" area of the district at the time (Charlevoix), so it would be mighty hard to make any inroads. Sigh...

6. Agreed, he's as liberal as we'll se eout of that district.
There are pockets of blue here and there but not enough to counter the swaths of rural, conservative territory.

Julie--in beautiful Traverse City :hi:
