Ignore the pundits, in 2010 we pick up 2-4 MORE US Senate seats. |
|
-- Robin Carnahan in MO -- Paul Hodes in NH -- Fisher or Brunner in OH
Possibly...
-- Elaine Marshall in NC -- Jack Conway in KY -- Charlie Melancon in LA
We may lose Blanche Lincoln, but not necessarily. Harry Reid will win in the end. The open seats in DE, IL, and NY will stay Dem. Colorado worries me a little. Otherwise, I think we're gaining more...

5. Well the conventional wisdom among the Sages... |
|
like Larry Sabato, Stu Rothenburg, etc., is that the Dems are poised to lose 10-20 in the House and 1-3 in the Senate. I didn't know if folks on here had been following the individual Senate races but: Carnahan has yet to trail Blunt in MO; Hodes's toughest foe in NH, AG Kelly Ayotte hasn't addressed the big issues of the day yet; Brunner and Fisher have never trailed to Rob Portman in OH.
In NC, Burr's approval has never topped 50% (bad for an incumbent); in KY, prior to Bunning dropping out, that was almost a Dem given. But with AG Conway against Trey Grayson we poll even; in Louisiana, we're going up against David Vitter. I have to think the whole, "cheat on wife with a prostitute" issue might come up. And Melancon is a well-liked conservative Democrat.
So I'm just saying, things are looking better than some would have you believe!

8. Yeah, like the fucking GOP did such a great job with jobs the last time they were in power |
|
and like they have viable alternatives and shit.
Obama and the Democrats saved us from a Great Depression and job losses will turn into job gains next year.
No DOOM required.

20. So was I, but EVERYONE knows this recession began under Bush and the GOP |
|
well maybe not EVERYONE  - some people think that Obama is responsible :D
and there is NO REAGAN waiting in the wings this time.
and Obama's Stimulus Package is working - and all DEMs have to do is show a few graphs and the GOP has no game.
Unemployment will decline next year, thanks to Obama and the Dems - no repugs required.

is focusing on. Obama has his faults, the Congressional Dems may have their faults, you may not agree with them on some issues or many issues.
But have you seen the alternative party?!?!? Holy shit!!

14. A poll came out shortly after Mike Castle voted against the Healthcare Reform Bill... |
|
And suddenly he was being crushed in that state's US Senate race by Beau Biden. Seems folks in Delaware approve of a public option.

Castle may well be more "liberal" then Denn.I don't think Denn has enough juice for state wide. He'd get next to nothing south of the canal.

Unless we pass this turd of a "health insurance reform" ill, I think you are right, as I have said before. Here: http://journals.democraticunderground.com/Laelth/30If we do pass the turd, we may be punished severely. It stinks. :dem: -Laelth

13. We will probably lose Dodd. I think Carnahan will win. Jack Conway |
|
Edited on Fri Dec-04-09 03:19 PM by MasonJar
would have nailed Bunning. Tray Grayson is the ONLY GOPer in Kentucky who could win the Senate seat. He may not, however, since Conway is one awesome candidate. I do not know the others you mention, but I hope we get enough to get rid of LIEberman.

I agree, Conway is very strong. I think Dodd will win in the end. Are the good people of CT really going to ignore all the good Dodd has done (and some bad) in favor of GOP "moderate" (he's not) Rob Simmons? I just don't see it.
