CNN's biggest star sees ratings plummet
CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360," which airs nightly at 10 p.m., has declined 62% in total viewers and 70% in the coveted 25-54 demographic from this time last year, Nielsen numbers reveal. Last month, Cooper's ratings trailed repeats of MSNBC's "Countdtown" and HLN's Nancy Grace show in the 25-54 demo, though he topped both programs in total viewers.

Fox's "On the Record," hosted by CNN alum Greta Van Susteren, maintains a dominating lead at 10 p.m, besting the viewership of its three competitors combined.

Not all the news is negative for CNN, which in November stopped a months-long slide in the prime time ratings among adults 25-54. Still, its ratings pale in comparison to Fox, which has three times the viewership in the ad-friendly demo.

CNN President Jon Klein has said the network remains committed to straight news over opinion even though its rivals, left-leaning MSNBC and right-skewing FOX, have profited from a more partisan approach.

1. I love it. Cooper recently ran a promo saying that he would hold the wacky
left accountable. I was like, WTF!! I emailed his show about it. I'm glad that he is sinking like a rock.

9. His timeslot is inconvenient for me but I think his commercial is cheesy
With the combined "voicemail" of someone from the left and right saying they love his show.

11. Yet he gave Bush a pass on accountability.
As I recall, the chicken noodle network licked Bush ass for 8 years.

16. Less killing and more happiness is whacky?
Who knew?

"...Cooper's ratings trailed repeats of MSNBC's "Countdtown"..."

Trailing repeats of a news show?

AC 360 < yesterday's newspapers

I don't wish anyone ill, so I hope he has planned ahead for retirement.

10. When I saw the headline, I was sure they were talking about Larry King
and I was thinking to myself, "good, serves him right!" because his interviewing skills are so awful. I was shocked to see it was Cooper.

8. "Stars" and "News" should be mutually exclusive. You want fame, try Hollywood or Broadway.
In the early 90's I was a CNN addict. Not because I wanted to see Bernard Shaw - it was to see what was going on in the world.

As attractive as some of CNN's female anchors are, I'd gladly trade them for some comprehensive, critical news coverage - especially when MSNBC is in catch-a-predator-or-prison-network mode.

14. I am tired of all of them...
and really skip most of the "news/opinion shows.... featuring endless commercials with just a small dose of content from time to time".

22. CNN doesn't have any stars! Each and everyone on that channel
makes me want to vomit. They are either mean spirited, totally clueless, or just hard to take.

I try, because in the morning there is literally nothing to watch, but I can only go for about 2 minutes.

They are shitty.

And no, MSNBC ain't even close to "left". 3 hours doesn't make a channel, period.
Plus Maddow, Olbermann and Ed really still are opinion journalism, and that is
not the only thing a news channels should be about. Their morning sucks hard,
and the afternoon, does just a tad better. Can't stand the doctor or the fast
"I know everything and I'm mad" CNBC transplant. They both are as engaging as
as an ashtray.
