When capitalist business requires Socialist bailouts and rescue.. |
|
it's time to nationalize.
When business' require subsidies they can no longer be considered part of the private sector/free market.
Time to nationalize banking, health care, energy, defense(end capitalist war profiteering).
These 4 sectors are responsible for more political corruption and have plundered the American citizenry more so than most of us can even fathom.
It's beyond time to nationalize.
Are we not in a state of regret right now for failing to nationalize banking when we had the opportunity to do so?
How well is privitization working? If it worked we wouldn't need bank bailouts.
Dems will regret not siezing this golden opportunity to nationalize.

1. Bailouts arent socialist. They are corporatist. |
|
Its only socialism if the government exchanges the bailout funds for ownership of the companies. Instead, the government achknowledged on one hand the failings of capitalism, but on the other, allows capitalism to fix the problem

3. Well put. Capitalism is like a pyramid scheme. It will crash at some point. Bailouts only |
|
postpone the crash. IMHO if a company wants a bailout they need to give up all objections to heavy government regulation.

2. well, the irony is the biggest corps practice socialism better than anyone |
|
and despite the reverence our nation has for competitive free markets, the biggest market share CEOs in almost any industry are very buddy-buddy and are surprisingly well-organized and united when some outside threat (i.e., regulation) threatens the status quo

5. Capitalism abhors a free market. The big fish eat the little fish. And maybe two big fish |
|
can pretend to be friends, but the minute one gets an advantage, he will eat the other. When the big fish has eaten all the other fish, crash.

11. You are being overly simplistic. |
|
I abhor the corruption more than anyone. But, as Michael Moore pointed out in his movie, it is not capitalism itself that is at fault. It is the perversion of capitalism that our government has allowed to take place that is the problem.
We are not living so much in a capitalist society as in a corporatist society.
There is a difference. In a capitalist society, the investors take responsibility for the risks that they take and earn their profits. In a corporatist society, the investors are protected from having to take responsibility for the risks they take through various means including limits on the personal liability of investors for the debts of the corporation and, now, adding to the liability protections, government bailouts for a favored few corporations and investors.
Corporatism is not capitalism. Corporatism is corruption.
It is interesting that the same people who espouse corporatism claim to believe in individual responsibility and liberty. Capitalism is compatible and even encourages individual responsibility and liberty. Corporatism leads back to feudalism.
Back when your neighbor owned the grocery store on the corner, we lived in a capitalist society. That's very rare nowadays. And most people who own small shops are barely able to survive.
