Why is the US media attempting to discredit
the Italian courts before a verdict is handed down in this Amanda Knox murder trial. WTF is this about?

2. Because it's a pretty young American girl who stands accused.
So the Italians must have railroaded her.

4. A jury and judge will make the verdict and unlike the US courts
the jury is allowed to deliberate while the trial is ongoing. At least that is what I heard on the news. It will be interesting to hear talking heads if she is found guilty. No one will probably have any idea of testimony and evidence in the case but will all have an opinion. I'm hoping for not guilty just to avoid the media assault that will happen if she is found guilty.

14. 3..2...1....Talking heads on trashing the Italian system of justice.
By the end of next week, Obama will be forced to comment on this miscarriage of justice. You see, I'm not really pretending I know either way what happened. All I know is what would happen if she were found guilty. Endless weeks of droning about wheather or not she should have been found quilty. I know nothing of this trial any more than what I know of the many trials going on right now across the country. But the media will latch onto this one and once again drive a story that goes on day in and day out in the this country with no media. And it takes away from the important stroies they should be covering.

17. She's a young white woman.
Remember the au pair case? Young white woman shakes a baby to death, she cries when the verdict is read, so the judge lets her off?

21. She's a young American women.
The judicial process is much different there than it is in America.

The jury in Italy consists of 6 layman and 2 judges who are NOT sequestered, meaning they are able to read, research and follow the case on the news.

there than it is in America.

25. You left out another point.
There's no political reason to be in favor of conviction.

With the CIA agents the Italian court system was held up as a paragon of objectivity and virtue fighting against those who would thwart traditional American values going back at least to the reporters' college days.

Wasn't there a NYT op-ed piece today on how bad "selective empathy" is?
