Ga. House Speaker Richardson resigns
Georgia House Speaker Glenn Richardson resigned from the legislature Thursday, three days after his ex-wife told a television interviewer that he had an affair in 2007 with a utility lobbyist.

The relationship was widely alleged in the news media at the time, and House Democrats filed an ethics complaint, which was dismissed. But the accusations became significantly more damaging with Susan Richardson’s interview with WAGA-TV aired on Monday.

2. Probably. I find it quite funny that ex-wifey talked to the media!
Hopefully this will cause a lot of the Ga. fundies to just stay home in disgust on election day!

3. 'spose his depression stems from guilt for all the people he's
fucked over or from not getting a bigger share of the graft?
Depression can be a horrible disease. And while I know nothing of this man I still have little sympathy for anyone that would align themselves with that bunch of criminals.

5. No way to know if he was elected in the first place.
This is GA after all, and democracy disappeared there in 2002 with Diebold for every election all the time, and democracy doesn't seem likely to reappear any time soon.

6. I thought he only resigned as Speaker.
Oh man, if he's gone for good it will be a good day for Georgia. Although I was hoping this scandel would stick around for a while longer and drag down a few more of those assholes with him. I hear he's got the dirt on a lot of people (which is why he made Speaker in the first place).
