Well, boys and girls, it is that time again. Yes, it is exam time - and your old graduate assistant is busily grading essays. He has developed a foolproof plan to grade them all as fairly and objectively as possible.

Want to hear the plan?

Sure you do!

He has placed 4 boxes in the cemter of the room. One lable A, one labled B, etc. Now he is throwing the tests randomly in the air. Wow, that student must be smart because her test landed in box A. The next student is not so smart, her test landed in box C. OOPs! One missed all of the boxes ... that one is an F.

Gee this is fun, and gives them a much better chance of a good grade than reading the silly tests.

Seriously though, the question was on the commerce clause. Here is one of the most straightforward and, frankly, refreshingly accurate answers:

"I have to confess I have not put forth near the effort to study as I should have. My grades are no where hear what they were in ------. the people who keep complaining .... are just not mature enough to take "big kid" classes here in college....I wanted to take the time to tell y'all (G.A.s included) that during the "bitching" session after the last test it seemed like everyone was upset b/c their tests weren't what they wanted. ... since I didn't study enough to answer the essay, I thought I'd take the time to give y'all a pat on the back; I will most likely end up retaking this class, & when I do I'll make sure to take y'all again. Thanx for everything. Y'all are great teachers, keep it up!"

Of course, student X got full credit on the essay :rofl:just kidding

1. I got a 'A' in a class for writing a similar essay

Because of an arbitrary administrative decision (long, long story) as a senior in college I ended up having to take a freshman English course. I wrote four of the six required papers, getting 100% on each paper I submitted. The 'final' was to write an essay suggesting what grade we thought we should receive and justifying that grade.

I suggested I should receive a 'C' since I had not completed all the coursework but had proven that I was capable of the required level of competency for the course. Of course, my essay was longer than that with much more elaboration. The professor gave me an 'A' and told me that he was happy with what I had submitted and considered that I had earned that grade. :shrug:

I submitted (uploaded via Blackboard) the first of three essays a few minutes before it was due. I thought I had a lot more time until the Internet went down for an excruciatingly long 5 minutes.



A minute later and it would have been marked down a whole letter grade.
