Sen. Harry Reid's re-election prospects in a heap o' trouble
Edited on Sat Dec-05-09 03:23 AM by Bluebear

Nevadans aren't warming up to Sen. Harry Reid, despite plenty of early advertising designed to boost his image, a new poll shows.

Just 38 percent of respondents said they had a favorable opinion of the Democratic Senate majority leader, the same percentage as in October and 1 point higher than in August.

The survey of 625 registered Nevada voters by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research suggests the promotional bombardment that Reid launched more than six weeks ago has yet to hit its target.

"I'd be worried," said Michael Franz, an assistant professor at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, who studies political advertising. "I'd stop if I had aired ads for two or three weeks and it wasn't moving the needle."

1. It would take a lot to get excited about Harry Reid.
My reaction when I hear him speak is to either tear my hair out or fall asleep. Can't we run another Dem in his place?

3. Bye Bye Harry???
12 years ago Reid looked dead in the water and won in a very narrow election by 428 votes (He beat Ensign)

Nevada has such a high turnover rate in its electorate that four months can be an eternity

That being said...Win or Lose can we get a real Senate Majority Leader in 2011?

4. Say hello to Sen. Lowden
Men have f'ed things up royally, and I can see how many people might just say.. let a woman try to fix things.. sad thing though.. a republican woman is more "dangerous" than a republican man..
]
and repubs will be ecstatic to have knocked out TWO Senate Leaders..:grr:

NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN... we have to stop allowing the senate leader to be from an "unsafe" state.. Might as well paint a target on their suitcoat.

5. On the plus side, Durbin probably has the most legitimate claim for the majority leader
position, were he to seek it.

And from where I sit in Illinois, that doesn't sound half bad.

6. We'll see what happens, but this is why democrats lose.
I'd love to vote for Harry, but Harry has given me no reason to vote for him other than he's not a republik.

7. The STUPIDITY of having a Majority Leader from a RED State.
Edited on Sat Dec-05-09 12:59 PM by bvar22
Harry should have refused the position.

Having a Majority Leader form a RED State is a self-inflicted wound to the Democratic Party's ability to govern, or enact anything close to a Democratic Agenda.....

This was so stupid, I can't help but suspect that it was by design.

The WORST thing that has happened to The Democratic Party was that The People gave them the White House, big majorities in the House & Senate, and a HUGE mandate for change.

Now they have NO EXCUSES, though they are still trying to blame the Republicans.

9. Reid's inadequacy was magnified by being the leader.
Someone with leadership skills should hold that job.

11. Of course he's going. He played "Good Cop" on TV (but not too good)
and we are soon heading right back into Bad Cop in 2010 and then 2012 because the Corproate Neofeudalists are in a hurry and they did the minimum "plausible deniability" to make sure that the American Subject Populace will saty docile and confused.

they HAD to let Obama win...just once.

In 2012 we will almost certainly see just how deeply the Corporate NeoFeudalist media controls the National Mind using the science of Statistical Psychology of Large Groups.

Actually we can see it now, as at least on the surfce, things seem to be getting better yet Obama's approval ratings are dropping like a rock.

But it's all bullsh*t anyway, a dog-and-pony-show, and not even a very believable one, anymore.

But the American Subject Populace, all of us (and I include myself), are the weakest-brained, most docile, easily confused bunch of goobs any tyrants were ever blessed with.

The Corporate Neofeudalists could go much faster if they wanted, but I suspect they are taking no chances since one mistake could blow decades, perhaps even centuries, of careful planning of how to get the genie back into the bottle.

The genie's almost back into the bottle, and just in time for the global catstrophes that will likely be in full swing in the next century, if not sooner.
