but this legislation has to pass. I'm an intern with Garden State Equality, and went to Trenton on Thursday to lobby the legislature for marriage equality along with 700 others. Of course I came down with the flu and could not make it through the day, so I left at lunchtime. I'm still just as sick now as I was then--- ugh.
It has the opportunity to be voted on either Monday or Thursday, and we need to call our legislators NOW about it (I would but I can't talk right now). If you want, I can give you some key legislators numbers to call if you don't mind making a few phone calls. Their voicemails have to be full with support for marriage equality. If you want, mention how NY just rejected it (I'm ashamed of my home state) and if NJ passes it, many NY couples will come to NJ to get married thus helping the economy and tax revenue. Here are the phone numbers of some key legislators that are either in charge of getting the bill heard or on the fence (I only used the ones that the Asbury Park office is targeting-- I have no idea who Montclair, Trenton, or Collingswood is targeting). Tell them you're calling because it's an issue that affects all of NJ.
Dick Codey:(973) 731-6770 Steve Sweeney: (856) 251-9801 Paul Sarlo: (201)804-8118 Jennifer Beck, Declan O'Scanlon-- (732)-933-1591 David Rible, Mary Pat Angelini-- 732-974-0400 Sean Kean-- 732-974-2564 Caroline Casagrande-- 732-866-1695 Andrew Ciesla-- 732-840-9028

an affluent Republican county. The type of Republican was like Millicent Fenwick, our former representative. We have Frelinghuysen now - his family has been in NJ politics since the Revolutionary War. (Fenwick was the model of Rep Lacey Davenport in Doonesbury.)
