The Teabagger Bill-of-Rights (purity test) is stupid.
Edited on Sat Dec-05-09 05:30 PM by Blue-Jay
Here it is:

(1) We support smaller government, smaller national debt, lower deficits and lower taxes by opposing bills like Obama's "stimulus" bill;

(2) We support market-based health care reform and oppose Obama-style government run healthcare;

(3) We support market-based energy reforms by opposing cap and trade legislation;

(4) We support workers' right to secret ballot by opposing card check;

(5) We support legal immigration and assimilation into American society by opposing amnesty for illegal immigrants;

(6) We support victory in Iraq and Afghanistan by supporting military-recommended troop surges;

(7) We support containment of Iran and North Korea, particularly effective action to eliminate their nuclear weapons threat;

(8) We support retention of the Defense of Marriage Act;

(9) We support protecting the lives of vulnerable persons by opposing health care rationing and denial of health care and government funding of abortion; and

(10) We support the right to keep and bear arms by opposing government restrictions on gun ownership

Number 1 is in direct opposition with numbers 5 & 8. Both of those ideas will result in the growth of government and number 8, in particular, will result in the continued intrusion of government in our collective bedrooms.

How do we decrease the size of government by cracking down on illegal immigration? Impossible.

How do we support "smaller government" by denying rights to American citizens? We don't.

And:

What precisely does number 6 even mean?

And:

How is number 7 not being accomplished right now?

And:

How is number 10 currently being opposed? (hint: it's not)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What a bunch of horseshit.

5. Prediction:
These kind of missives are going to bite the RWers in the ass.

The rats are already leaving the GOP's sinking ship, and will continue to do so.

4. RE: #2--Will they be tearing up their SS cards and refusing Medicare?
I doubt it.

Do they refuse "government funded" roads, police, firefighters and the like or is it only the idea of everyone getting health care (rather than the providing health care to only those who can afford it) that pisses them off?

And WTF is it with these so-called "pro-life" people who insist every egg cell is sacred until it exits the womb, whereupon it becomes a burden to society and can die in the streets unless it can fend for itself (for they're certainly not going to part with a penny of their precious tax dollars to provide it with health care, food, shelter or anything else).

I didn't even BEGIN to tear that list apart.
The entire thing is comical. Stupider than the "Contract With America".

6. Can't be pro-small govt and prowar. Prowar is gigantasaur govt.
"Defense" has been the most expensive segment of govt since 1981. Only to be surpassed by bank bailouts.

20. Our "defense budget" is obscene.
We could cut "defense" in half, and still have the biggest, best, & most technologically superior armed forces in the world. The only invasion that we need to worry about is the invasion of cheap inferior products.

7. Here's what the teabaggers really support.
(1) We support bigger state government, smaller national debt, lower deficits and lower taxes by opposing bills like Obama's "stimulus" bill;

(2) We support private health insurance and prefer people can't afford health insurance to die;

(3) We support business-as-usual energy markets of the oil cartel;

(4) We support employer's rights to bust unions;

(5) We support legal immigration and assimilation into American society by not fixing the American immigration system;

(6) We support staying in Iraq and Afghanistan indefinitely;

(7) We support military action of Iran and North Korea, particularly effective action to eliminate their nuclear weapons threat;

(8) We support the hypocrisy of hetrosexual marriage;

(9) We support protecting the lives of fetuses by supporting health care rationing by private insurers and denying government funding of abortion; and

Fixed that for you.

9. Well done, but it can be simplified.
(1) If a Democrat President is for it, then we're against it. (for=fer and against=agin')

(2) "The President is a a ni...(BONG!)" - "He said the President is NEAR."

19. I don't know how they can look themselves in the mirror
and if they do, I doubt they have a reflection.
I've grown to absolutely loathe the right in recent years. I know that's something personal within me that I'll need to overcome, but it's going to take a lot of time. I've gotten so bad this last year, I haven't acknowledged the existence of the rethug members of our family. I still receive their disgusting rightwing bs spam emails and religious crap, but I refuse to give them the satisfaction of a single reply. They know perfectly well I'm a life long lib, my sons are atheists - as was my husband (their son/brother), who was also disgusted with that side of the family. I'm pretty sure they think they can 'save' us. *sigh
