They are saying the very fast browser won't get slower because of these extensions. Let's see if it's true. Firefox is to me much better but waaay too slow once you install extensions. I don't even use Firefox because of this. I haven't touched Internet Explorer in years.
Washington Post has news about this: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/12/05/AR2009120502610.html

1. I trust you know that Chrome is more of a data gathering tool than a browser.
It is in the license agreement - plain as shit. They didn't write it to be friendly. It exists so they can gather data and sell it for pop-up ads and inline ads and there aren't any extensions like AdBlock Plus (Firefox) to get rid of them. If THAT doesn't slow down your machine, I don't know what will. Firefox with ABP is screaming fast - and it blows the doors off of Safari on the Mac.

11. Ad Block Plus - it lets you easily set up filters so ads won't load.
The filters can be either for a specific ad or an entire site that feeds ads. The browser not only doesn't show them but it doesn't waste time downloading them.

14. And "scat=all"? ROFL!
Everything turns to shit, right?

Still, it is weird that they even have one. It will be interesting to hear if it works or has "curious exceptions".

12. You must love "crowdsourcing" - where people give ideas and intellectual property for free...

As was said, it's about data mining. Your data. For their benefit. It's hard to retain true copyright ownership if you're granting them a license to give it away or to sell it to other companies with no strings attached.
