Capital Punishment? Four Golden Retriever Puppies Stolen From Home

http://www.examiner.com/x-24593-Golden-Retriever-Examiner~y2009m12d4-Four-Golden-Retriever-Puppies-Stolen-From-Home

Four Golden Retriever Puppies 7 weeks old were stolen today from the home of Walt Mitchell of Menifee, California. While Mitchell was in the backyard of his home working, the four puppies were taken from the house.

Recently his female Golden Retriever had a litter of eight puppies. Mitchell is concerned because three females and one male from the litter have special dietary needs and haven’t received their shots yet.

Although Mitchell is not a dog breeder, he loves his dogs and wants them returned safe.

There has been a string of recent dog thefts in the area.

The puppies are worth $1200.00 each and when the culprits are found, they could be facing grand theft charges.

*************

Bring all our troops home now and hunt this terrorist down.

2. Why is a puppy from a common breed ...
... and with "special dietary needs" worth $1200 ? Are these the champion show dogs or something?

3. I love Puppies.. and I hope they're found soon - but $1200?!?!!?
If the story would have said $1200 total for all 4 dogs.. that would have made sense.. but a guy who isn't a breeder selling dogs for $1200 sounds a bit odd. We bought a pure bred lab about 10 years ago for $200... I can see that up to $300 or maybe even $400 now, but not $1200.

Anyway, I sure hope these pups are found safely. :(

6. To do it right a good kennel has huge overhead
BTW big difference between a good place and a "puppy mill."

If you figure a dog will live for 10 years the price is really low.

7. OK.. cool - I haven't bought a dog in a loooong time!!
And, I think our next one will be from the pound in a couple of years.

I hate the thought of any dog being stolen.. what kind of freak does that?

8. 1200 is way too much money. goldens are a dime a dozen

its not like they are rare.

unless he has a Champion producing line. and a lot of show winners.

can't be that good if they need special diets.
