"Pearl Harbor" just gets a blank stare of non-recognition these days. Pearl Harbor, wasn't she a jazz vocalist? I heard someone say just last week. It's easy to forget that just 8 years ago "Pearl Harbor" was in the American lexicon at least, virtually synonymous with the Second World War, and could serve as a short hand notation for an unanticipated yet hoped-for sneak attack that could propel Americans into another globe sweeping paroxysm of warfare.
