Just shoot me now: Politico editor Jim VandeHei named to Pulitzer board..
Edited on Mon Dec-07-09 03:27 PM by Fumesucker
Journalism is truly a lost art, this only carves the letters in the gravestone.

Columbia University announced Monday that POLITICO Executive Editor Jim VandeHei has been elected to the Pulitzer Prize Board.

VandeHei , who co-founded POLITICO in early 2007, becomes the first member of the Pulitzer Board from a primarily online news outlet. The print edition of POLITICO is distributed daily in Washington when Congress is in session.

“In many ways, the Pulitzer Board is on the same mission as POLITICO: to embrace new media while fighting to protect the highest standards for writing, reporting and accuracy. I am honored to be a part of this effort," VandeHei said.

Board members serve for a three-year term, with a maximum of three total terms. Some top newspaper editors, executives and writers are currently on the board, including Jim Amoss, editor of The Times-Picayune of New Orleans; Kathleen Carroll, executive editor of The Associated Press; Paul Gigot, editorial page editor of The Wall Street Journal; and Thomas Friedman, columnist for The New York Times.

Edited for speling..

2. How big is the board?
Part of me wants to be pleased with this, because I work in the internet journalism realm, and Columbia appears to be recognizing the worth of online journalism by putting an online editor on the Pulitzer board.

Most of me, however, thinks a bag of doorknobs would have been a better choice.

3. Politico is a right-wing joke.
Pure garbage, and getting worse by the day.

4. The RWingers have taken over so much of the media that this is just another step in that
direction. Look what they have done to PBS and CPB!!

I cannot even imagine what a turd like VandeHei would consider Pulitzer Prize worthy.
I cannot help but wonder how the right would have reacted if the newest member of the board was from Kos or Truthout...
