British National Party joins the far-right bloc in the EU parliament.
http://www.searchlightmagazine.com/index.php?link=template&story=307

"The Alliance of European National Movements brings together three of the most hardline racist and fascist groups in the European Parliament. As well as the BNP’s two MEPs, it includes the three MEPs from Hungary’s fascist Jobbik party and the three French National Front MEPs. Other supporting organisations are Italy’s Fiamma Tricolore, the Belgian National Front and the Swedish National Democrats, none of which have MEPs."

"The Alliance was formed in Budapest on 24 October and announced at a press conference held by Jobbik. The BNP joined on 12 November. Its political declaration was drafted by Nick Griffin, the BNP leader, and signed by representatives of the other supporting organisations."

"The Budapest agreement includes "a demand for a Europe of “free, independent and equal nations” and rejects any attempt to create a “centralist European Super State”. The signatories claim they want to protect Europe not only against terrorism but also against “religious, political, economic or financial imperialism” and against “the destructive effects of globalisation”."

"The date of the conference was chosen to mark the anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Uprising, which began on 23 October. The date is now a national holiday which has been used in recent years by right-wing nationalists and fascist extremists to whip up hatred against “‘Jewified’ socialists, liberals and liberal intellectuals”."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's reassuring that this Alliance has a grand total of 8 seats (out of 736) in the European parliament. The far-right seems to make a lot of noise in Europe, but not have much political power. More worrying is that their representation has been growing recently, even though is still so small.

The populist wording that the Alliance chose to express its "nine demands".

I....The creation of a Europe of free, independent and equal nations in the framework of a confederation of sovereign nation states, refraining from taking decisions on matters properly taken by states themselves.
II...The rejection of any attempt to create a centralist European Super State.
III..The promotion of the freedom, dignity and equal rights of every citizen, and opposition to all forms of totalitarianism.
IV...The primacy of direct votes by the people or their elected representatives over any administrative or bureaucratic body.
V....The effective protection of Europe against new threats, such as terrorism and religious, political, economic, or financial imperialism.
VI...A peaceful and humane settlement of immigration problems through, among other measures, international cooperation aiming at development and self sufficiency of third world countries.
VII..Strong policies in favour of families aiming at solving the demographic deficit in Europe and promoting traditional values throughout society.
VIII.The preservation of the diversity of Europe that results from the variety of our identities, traditions, languages and indigenous cultures.
IX...A common fight of the European peoples against social dumping and the destructive effects of globalisation.

Of course, the far-right's real agenda is anti-immigration (particularly Muslim immigration, but others as well) and anti-EU with its free trade and open immigration among member countries (so that countries can regain their sovereignty by keeping out citizens and goods from other European countries). The BNP uses the term "indigenous" people to justify its goal to return the UK to its white roots.

1. "Right-wing", a funny terminology, for a Third Positionist group
Don't tell me I don't still understand the terms "left" and "right".
Because funny about them, they don't really seem to fit the term "right wing" to me as much as racial anti-capitalist.
They're like a White Nationalist version of Robert Mugabe.

That is, they're not perfect Socialists by any means. But they're even less Capitalist than the labour party. The Conservatives are the real right wingers. They don't care about stuff like white nationalism so much as free market capitalism with a Conservative edge.

They are the far nationalist left. Of course most leftists would not admit to such a thing. And say that leftism is inherently libertarian and anti-racist. And the right wingers want any excuse to compare Leftists to Hitler.

But the truth is nationalism, including ethno-nationalism is entirely independent of economics. Free market economics breeds classism, not racism. Though the current system is more in control by white and asian men. There's nothing stopping rich white men from promoting race mixing and race mixing themselves, which has particularly brought the ire of white nationalists against Capitalism. The White Separatists, and otherwise White Nationalistic people, look at the TV and the products of companies, and they feel betrayed by a greater promotion for nonwhites than they have. And this is why Strasserism is becoming much more popular to these people than the right wing.

2. I had to look up "Strasserism"-a form of National Socialism that is "hostile to finance capitalism
from an antisemitic basis to be initiated alongside nationalism."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strasserism

"Strasserism, therefore, became a distinct strand of neo-Nazism that, whilst holding on to previous Nazi ideals such as militant nationalism and anti-Semitism, added a strong critique of capitalism and framed this in the demand for a more "socialist-based" approach to economics."

Most of the nine demands of the Alliance, if you eliminated the racist and anti-Semitic" aspects, would be popular with many DU'ers. Many here oppose the kind of "finance capitalism" and "globalization" that the Alliance and Strasserism oppose, in favor of a more nationalistic (tariffs and stricter immigration controls) and a more "productive capitalism".

Strasserism is in "opposition to "Jewish finance capitalism," which they contrasted to "productive capitalism (from wikipedia)." Again if you eliminate the reference to "Jewish", the rest of it would be popular with many here on DU.

"They are the far nationalist left. Of course most leftists would not admit to such a thing. And say that leftism is inherently libertarian and anti-racist." - The fact that the BNP and the Alliance are so racist is the main reason that the left, certainly DU, would rightfully disown them. If you could overlook their racism and anti-semitism (which can't be done since those are integral parts of their nationalist and anti-globalist beliefs), other parts of their platform, e.g. tariffs, strict immigration limitations, British (American) jobs for British (American) workers, etc. would be popular with many here.
