7. That is chilling and obscene.
The lines between media and MIC have ceased to be blurred...they are now erased.

I guess with only 100 Taliban there, ( Dan Rather confirmed this last night on the Daily show)
and no Al-Quada, ( he said they were in Pakistan)
it was safe enough for valued media stars to be in the area.
30,000 more more troops for a pipeline, in an area apparently safe enough for tv shows.

I'm busy sputtering now............

8. Oh, come on. You don't believe for a second
Edited on Tue Dec-08-09 09:57 AM by BB1
that the US military is actually being deployed to guard a freakin' pipeline? That would be a gross abuse of power, of resources, of people etc.

They're in it for the dope. More money to be made from opiates then there will ever be in oil or natural gas. Besides, you can reap oil profits only once. Poppy pops up every year.

Just the province of Helmand produces over 100.000 hectares at 56 kg/ha. So that's 5,600,000 kilo's of opium.

edit: got me numbers wrong

20. And that would be where (around here)?
Around here, sarcasm is a way of life. No need to tag it;)

My 'here' is a country that has universal healthcare, semi-legal weed, where Heineken is not an import product and freedom of speech will kill us all.

forgot it again, didn't I?

25. Thanks, I guess...
Sane or no, we still catch a cold if the US sneezes. We still see higher prices on oil and general electricity when the US set out for wars. And we get the same shit on tv over and over again. The US's main cast of characters (politics, music, sports (Woods), writers, musicians) are a big part of our main cast, too.

Few things you have and we don't (need): credit cards and guns. American Football neither, but that goes without saying;)

14. Fox's NFL pregame goons did this last month
They even got to dress up like real army men.

I honestly think the defense contractors are getting nervous about the public's loss of interest in these occupations, and have asked the TV shows they pay for to dial up the propaganda a notch.

16. K&R
This needs to be the headline news on CNN. How dare the MIC show favorites, they (foxnbcbbc) all need to be treated as equals.

Were we to turn this into a campaign for a new fairness doctrine we might just get their attention.

21. That's really nice.
My nephew just had to shell out over six hundred
bucks for a ticket to get back to the base. And
he had to pay for his uniforms as well. He's trying
to save up for an engagement ring for his awesome
girlfriend. They say they pay a salary, but they
take it right back.

Sorry for ranting.

24. No
Bad idea. Bad, bad idea.

It is nothing more than a bribe.
""We take you out, pay the way, and you make us look good, K?""

Legalized bribery.

The only good we can make of this is to get the other press to demand their bribes too, ya know, fair and balanced bribery.
